Most of us never get our 15-minutes of fame, even once.
Cornelia Fort got hers five different times.
1. Most never appear on the cover of a national magazine, “Life,” like Cornelia Fort did during WWII.
2. Most never flew above Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 at the very instant that WWII began for America.
Silver Japanese bombers surrounded the yellow biplane Cornelia was flying (while training a student pilot) as bombs exploded in the harbor.
Luckily, Japanese machine gunners in the bombers, Zeros & torpedo bombers ignored her, honoring the Samurai Code of Bushido (e.g. don’t kill unarmed enemies).
3. Most were not represented by name in an Academy-Award winning movie (“Tora, Tora, Tora”), as the events at Pearl Harbor mentioned in 2 (above) were shown.
4. Most were not the very first woman to be inducted into the Women’s Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WASPs) to ferry warplanes overseas during WWII, like Cornelia.
5. Most were not, like Cornelia, the first WASP to die in the line of duty during WWII.
A cat has nine lives.
Unfortunately, Cornelia Fort was not a cat. She died in the line of duty on March 21, 1943.
Miscellaneous Story 2
Art Youmans, “We’ve Always Done it This Way,” 24 April 2018
Government bureaucrats, including generals, usually use outdated thinking to solve modern day problems.
When questioned after their outdated thinking has resulted in a disaster, they would say, “We’ve always done it this way.”
Although the U.S. Army adopted the re-designed 400-rounds a minute Gattling gun in 1866, & a 600-rounds per minute Maxim machine gun, or a pirated copy of the Maxim, which was used by the USA, France, Britain & most other countries since 1886, this new technology was ignored by French generals in WWI, who used Carl von Clausewitz’s outdated 1812 tactics of attacking the enemy’s strongest point, which, in WWI, was machine gun emplacements.
This strategy resulted in 1 million French soldiers killed by 1917, when 650,000 French troops mutinied in protest.
“We’ve always done it this way,” the French generals responded.
During WWII, in Guadalcanal, the colonel in charge of the invading U.S. Marines, ordered his troops to attack a large enemy pillbox containing 5 machine guns, head-on in 1942. (Nick Nolte played this colonel in the excellent 1998 film, “The Thin Red Line,” during the Guadalcanal battle of Mount Austen in WWII.)
When junior officers suggested attacking from the flanks or rear, the colonel overruled them by insisting on a frontal attack, with an order saying something like this. “Marines charge into the enemy with frontal attacks. It’s the Marine way.” (TRANSLATION: “We’ve always done it this way.”)
In Korean War Army tactical training classes, we were told about this colonel & this was another example of why my instructor felt the Army was superior to the thick-skulled marines. This colonel was also mentioned in a Guadalcanal documentary I saw on TV about 30 years ago.
A short time later, horrified by the 60% casualty rate of U.S. Marines on Guadalcanal, the blockhead colonel was recalled to a desk job in Washington, & was replaced with a new commanding officer with common sense, Marine Air Wing Brigadier General “Rugged Roy” Geiger, who allowed Marine commanders to use common sense to destroy & outflank pillboxes & machine gun nests like U.S. Army troops routinely did.
Marine casualty rates plummeted under Geiger’s command.
The blockhead colonel at Guadalcanal was a WWII equivalent of the we’ve always done it this waybungling British, Australian & New Zealand officers, during the start of the 1915 Battle of Gallipoli, leading their troops, stopping for tea on the beach for the day instead of taking the hills abandoned briefly by the fleeing Turks, using inaccurate maps, that led into barb wire barriers & Turkish machine gun fire, trying to invade Turkey. Thousands of allied troops were killed trying to occupy high ground, like Sari Bair ridge, which was still occupied by the Turks when the war ended
.At one beach, 100 Turks with machine guns, on high ground, stopped 3,000 Allied troops. During WWI, most military planners didn’t have enough common sense to realize that a Maxim-type machine gun was a formidable weapon (40 times as deadly as a rifle) that could fire 600 bullets a minute, compared to the foot soldier who fired up to 15 bullets a minute.
Another example of lack of intelligent thinking are the French defeats by Britain in the major battles of the Hundred Years’s War, Sluys (1340), Crecy (1346), Poiters (1356) & Agincourt (1415), where the French used the same “bull-rush” charging tactics in losing battles against Britain. The Brits used new technology, the 6’ longbow, to destroy them. The longbow was the machine gun of its day. British Welch long bowmen could fire about 7 armor-piercing arrows per minute, knocking French knights from their horses or shooting their horses & then finishing off the injured knights on the ground with battle axes.
Stephen Hawking had this to say about intelligence: “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
Albert Einstein added this statement: “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination.” (common sense)
Unless future colonels, generals, politicians & diplomats have imagination & common sense, the world is doomed to destroy itself. (Interestingly, one of WWII’s greatest leaders, Winston S. Churchill was a major planner in the bungled 8 month WWI Battle of Gallipoli. It nearly ruined his political career. Winston never gave up & ended up saving Britain from the late 1930s-1945.
Fools are those who use yesterday’s solutions to solve today’s problems. This includes the fools in Washington, D.C. who involved us in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan & Syria, plus gave Iran $1.2 billion to build an H-bomb & called every radical Islamic attack on America, including the Boston Marathon bombing…”workplace violence.” Up to now, most of America’s leaders who have involved us in Vietnam (Johnson), Iran (Carter), Afghanistan, Iraq & Syria (G.W. Bush & Obama) have been absolute morons in my opinion.
Never be set in your ways. Be flexible. Never have a closed mind …and remember this: The future is where you will spend the rest of your life in a society where 100 U.S. Senators, 450
Congressmen & women, one President & one Vice President & 9 U.S. Supreme Court justices enact laws that control your life as completely as if you were a prisoner, living in a 1944 Japanese POW camp near Tokyo, during WWII.
Any nation that controls your healthcare, controls you by the short hairs. If at all possible, always vote for the politician who promises to allow you to purchase your own healthcare. Once they have you by the short hairs, expect new taxes to arise from the ashes, like the legendary Phoenix. You become only a cash cow, to be worked & milked to death,
Russia, China, Cuba & Venezuela are examples of socialist countries controlled by corrupt politicians who have the citizens by the short hairs. Don’t let blockhead politicians, without imagination, like McConnell, Schumer, Pelosi & Ryan turn America into another bankrupt Venezuela. We are well down this path to socialism. Unless voters reject these bums at the ballot box in the next few elections, the USA is doomed to fail as a free enterprise country.
Fortunately, a few, like Paul Ryan, have voluntarily decided to retire by the next election, to make millions per year as lobbyists. An old guy, like me, may not be around to see us become Venezuela, but you will.
MORE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES IN BRITAIN In 1996, all guns, including handguns, were banned in the U.K. In 2006, politically-correct Britain even banned toy guns from the U.K. In 2018, citizens of the U.K. are now helpless against the massive spike in violent crime that has plagued London for the past 2 months, surpassing even New York. If you are traveling to London, be aware of the danger, there.
Miscellaneous Story 3
Art Youmans, ”American Gun Laws," 25 December 2018
Castle Doctrine Laws (self-defense in your home) are essential to know, whether or not you possess a gun or any other self-defense weapon, like a knife, cane or even a baseball bat.
If you even wave a weapon at a perp to frighten him away, remember what happened to a little guy who was in a road rage incident with a NFL-football-sized guy in 2015. Remember the importance of establishing a paper trail, first, whether on the road or at home.
Actual Incident: Mr. X is driving to work during morning rush hour in his compact car. Mr Y pulls his large pickup directly behind Mr. X’s car & starts screaming at him. Then he pulls up in traffic next to Mr.X’s driver’s side window & screams at him forcing him off the road. Mr.Y parks, gets out of his car screaming obscenities, claiming Mr. X cut him off etc.
. Mr Y pounds his fists into the hood of Mr X’s car, kicks the car & tries to yank Mr. X out of his compact car. Fearing for his life, 5’ 2” Mr. X rolls up his windows, locks the car & reached into the glove compartment for his gun, which he waves at Mr. Y.
Mr. Y holds up his hands, palms forward indicating he’s leaving, backs up to his pickup from behind the compact car & drives off;.
Mr. X breathes a sigh of relief & continues on his way to work.
Unknown to Mr X is that Mr Y has established a paper trail by immediately calling 911 & reported “a maniac driving a compact car waving a loaded gun at passer-bys.” Mr Y also supplied the license tag number & color of Mr X’s car & the direction he was driving.
Five minutes later a police patrol car’s lights are flashing behind Mr X’s compact car. Mr X is pulled over, hands handcuffed behind him & is taken to jail.
Mr Y, a 6’5” giant shows up at Mr. X’s booking & hearing & testifies that Mr X is a menace to society & should not be allowed to frighten innocent people like him etc.
SOURCE: E-mail from the organization whose attorneys were representing Mr X in court to keep him out of prison, & preserve his driver’s license & job, plus fight the personal injury lawsuit that Mr Y planned to file after Mr. X was sentenced to prison.
If Mr X immediately had called 911& established a paper trail, he likely wouldn’t have been jailed as a perp (the bad guy). Keep your cell phone always charged & handy.
If you use any weapon to protect yourself or to discourage an attacker, always immediately call 911 & establish a paper trail before the perp does to you what Mr Y did to Mr X.
This may be a case of “He said, she said,” but remember that the 1st one to start a paper trail, in cases like this, is usually regarded as the innocent one by those not at the scene of the Never forget to call 911 to protect yourself in any situation, whenever a weapon is involved, even if you hit a home invader over the head with a potted plant or toss hot coffee in his face.
. TIP of the Day #1 “Castle Doctrine Laws” govern firearm use & other self-defense techniques you use inside your home & apply in most of the United States. Your home is your castle & you are allowed to defend it. However, if you shoot someone who has broken into your home you will have to prove to the police & maybe to a jury that you believed that the attacker was “capable of immediately killing you or causing you great bodily harm.” Call 911 ASAP after the break-in. It’s easier to prove that to the police if you shoot the perp in the front, not in the back
. If you shoot him in the back, his parents may sue for big bucks, claiming their “choir-boy” son entered the wrong house & was trying to leave when you murdered him. If you do shoot an intruder, don’t empty your gun shooting the guy.
One or two shots should be enough to stop him, before you call the cops. I recall a pharmacist in Oklahoma City, who chased a would-be robber from his pharmacy & shot him 5 times outside, killing him. The pharmacist was charged with using too much lethal force, & was sentenced by a jury, I recall, to 10-15 years in prison.
Never let the home intruder get close to you.
A perp can close a distance of 15 feet in a blink of an eye. If he has a knife & you have a gun, keep him at least 30 feet away from you at all times. The more distance between you, the less likely that you’ll be “sucker punched” or killed by the perp. Checklist for after you shoot the attacker in your home
: 1. Briefly, tell the cops that you were the intended victim. He was the bad guy.
2. Second, establish that you will sign a complaint against the guy you shot.
3. Third, point out evidence to the cop, like the broken entry window, the perp’s knife, a kicked-in door etc. If you have a camera or camera on your cell phone, photograph the crime scene, yourself.
4. Fourth, point out witnesses to the cop, if any.
5. Fifth, take inventory of yourself to see if you are injured. The cop may ask you for the clothes you are wearing to go into evidence for the forensics team. Checklist for after you draw a weapon on an attacker who, seeing the weapon, flees your home:
6. After you draw your gun & the attacker flees, call the cops.
Tell them what happened so there is a paper trail showing you were the good guy.
7. There have been instances where the criminal will hide his weapon after fleeing someone’s home, then call the cops & say that a crazy person (you) threatened him with a weapon. He is establishing a paper trail with you as the bad guy
. Next you could find yourself in court being sued as the bad guy. If his lawyer is better than your lawyer, it could cost you a bundle of money & forfeiture of your concealed weapon license, because you didn’t make that important phone call to the cops. To find out about handgun laws in your state, check out this website, below: www.handgunlaw.us
Always remember that the “Castle Doctrine Laws” apply to gun defense ONLY inside your home.
Outside the home, a complicated set of “Stand Your Ground” laws apply. These outside the home laws are so complex that I recommend you never shoot anyone outside your home.
Inside your home it’s much easier for a DA, the police & a jury to determine who the good guy is & who the bad guy is.
Outside the home it’s his word against yours, unless you have honest witnesses. So, outside the home use a firearm only in a life-threatening situation, unless you wish to spend months with lawyers, fleeing reporters or in court, like George Zimmerman did in Florida, on 26 February 2012, when he shot & killed Trayvon Martin who was banging Zimmerman’s head on a concrete sidewalk.
In 2013, Zimmerman was found “Not Guilty” by a jury under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law,” despite the efforts of the Obama regime, the government-controlled media & a headline-seeking DA, to unjustly convict Zimmerman of murder.
TIP of the Day #1-1/2 Since conservative Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia has just died, if President Obama or a democrat president can replace Scalia with another liberal justice or two, expect the 2nd Amendment to be repealed & handguns declared illegal to possess by a 5-4 vote. Therefore, your possessing an unregistered gun is a very valuable asset, when authorities come for your registered guns. And, trust me, as soon as the law allows these bureaucrats to confiscate your guns, they will be knocking on your door!
NOTE: On March 16, 2016, President Obama nominated anti-gun advocate Judge Merrick Garland to replace Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. The nomination remained before the republican-controlled senate for 293 days before it expired on January 3, 2017. Gun owners uttered a sigh of relief when President Donald Trump successfully nominated pro-gun Judge Neil Gorsuch to replace Scalia in 2017.
In 1938 Germany, Hitler’s NAZIs passed laws prohibiting Jews from owning handguns. After their guns were confiscated, Germany became a police state & things went badly for 6 million European Jews.
To guarantee that history won’t repeat itself, be sure to vote on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Art Youmans. “Good Stuff to Know for 2018” January 1, 2018
Sue Grafton, author of “alphabet mysteries,” is another example of someone who died before they were able to complete their bucket list. She was 77 years old.
Grafton began her “alphabet series” in 1982 with “A is for Alibi.” Her most recent book, “Y is for Yesterday” was published in August 2017. She died of cancer of the appendix, a rare disease, in December 2017, before she could begin the “Z book,” which would have completed her 26-book series.
My comment is this: “Make an annual New Year’s Resolution of the ten most important things you would like to accomplish in your lifetime. List them in order of importance. Post them on a sheet of paper that you will see every day. Do some work, every day, to accomplish the #1 item on your list. If you have a roadblock with the #1 item, start working on #2. When you hit a roadblock with #2, begin working on #3 etc.”
Life is short. Using Time Management techniques, you can accomplish much more with a plan than you can without a written list of what you want to accomplish.
Most people don’t realize this, until, like me, they see the light at the end of the tunnel of life, when both a 2015 telomere blood test & a 2017 pulmonary specialist tells them their life expectancy will be no greater than 89.
So, always do the best you can, for as long as you can. Make that bucket list, today!
FEMA Administrator Brock Long sent a chilling message to Americans in 2017. “FEMA is broke” after the 2017 hurricanes in Texas & Florida areas.
“Americans cannot rely on federal help when disaster strikes. They will have to take care of themselves.
“The overstaffed Washington bureaucrats are good at only a few things: “Overspending your tax money on stuff like $600 hammers & $400 toilet seats & pork to get themselves re-elected.”
Therefore, knowing you can live 3 to 4 days without water & 40 days without food, keep storage supplies of drinkable water & dehydrated & canned food on hand.
If you won’t do it, who else will?
MAGIC BULLETS FOR LONG LIFE
Mexico recoded its deadliest year in 2017 for drug violence. Mexico registered a record-breaking 23,101 murder investigations in the 1st 11 months of the year, surpassing the 2011 record of 22,409. (SOURCE: “Tulsa World,” 12/31/2017, page G2)
A border wall to keep some of this out-of-control drug violence south of the Rio Grande might not be a bad idea for those folks with I.Q.s over 70. A border wall might even save your life or the life of a loved one in the future.
Keep investigating any food with antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties. These foods are linked to anti-aging.
Certain types of mushroom, for example, Maitake mushrooms with high levels of glutathione & Porcini & yellow oyster mushrooms with the highest levels of ergothioneine, were excellent foods to strengthen your immune system & fight inflammation. They may also inhibit growth of tumors, such as in breast cancer. “Chronic inflammation can lead to cancer & vascular disease, even as inflammation & oxidation can lead to harmful effects on nerve cells in the brain.
“Countries such as Italy & France, which have high dietary amounts of ergothioneine, have lower rates of Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s disease.
“Besides mushrooms, many foods, like berries, oranges, plums, grapes, kale, spinach, Brussel sprouts & broccoli contain antioxidants which also contain anti-aging ingredients.” (SOURCE: “Mushrooms known for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties,” Robert Ashley M.D., “Tulsa World, “ 12/29/2017, page D4, column “Ask the Doctors,” UCLA Health, Los Angeles.)

Miscellaneous Story 5
Art Youmans, “My 6 Worries,” 12 December, 2017
There are six (6) things that often keep me up at night, worrying about them. I’ve listed them in my order of importance:
America’s Electric Power Grid is vulnerable to attacks from anywhere & anytime from electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from outer space of an H-bomb exploded in the atmosphere, a cyber-attack by North Korea, Russia, China ISIS etc. (Remember that September hurricanes wiped out 100% of Puerto Rico’s electric power grid.)
Government estimates that a terrorist attack on only nine of America’s 55,000 electrical substations could keep power off in the USA for up to 18 months. This attack could easily be accomplished by ISIS with weaponized drones. (NOTE: Over 1 million drones were sold in the USA by the end of 2015.) ISIS is already using drones in the Middle East,
The Center for Security Policy predicts that “should the power go off & stay off for over a year, 9 out of 10 Americans would likely perish.” (NOTE: You can live without water for only 3 to 4 days. Without the power grid, how can you get water from reservoirs to your home?)
My house is protected from only a short interruption of Tulsa’s electric power grid with a natural-gas-powered generator, programmed to be activated whenever the electric power source is interrupted by snow or wind etc, This generator cost me $6,200 a few years ago, but would be worthless if America’s power grid went down, since there would be no power to pump natural gas to the generator in my backyard or water to my home.
The only solution to this problem is a group of solar panels, which would cost about $13,000 or more & would pay for itself in electric savings in about 17 years.
I am worried about some of the common stock I own & wonder, “In the coming years will competition drive any of these firms to bankruptcy?” For example, many brick-and-mortar retailers have been mortally-wounded, financially, by online retailers, like Amazon.Com.
Toys “R” Us, saddled with nearly 5 billion in debt, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2017, when they were unable to refinance their debt. Lenders noted the competition from online marketers & refused to let Toys “R” Us kick the debt can down the road any longer. Underperforming stores will be closed, & the rest of the 1,600 Toys “R” Us locations will continue operations until they go belly-up & are forced to merge, like K-Mart did.
If you own common stock in a retail chain that competes with Amazon.com & other online firms, I’d check the debt held by these retailers. The more debt they have, the more likely they are to follow the example of Toys “R” Us. Everything, including autos, can be sold online. At immediate risks are book stores, like Barnes & Noble, retailers like Target, Sears, J.C. Penney & health food store competitors of Whole Foods, bought by Amazon.com in June 2017.
Last week’s newsletter was about the massive debt growing exponentially in the USA. It’s not only credit card debt, student loan debt, mortgage debt, consumer debt, government short-and-long term debt. It’s the total debt of hundreds of trillions of dollars of future pension debt that scares me & could cause the USA to implode & declare bankruptcy (default) like Toys “R” Us did. There is a limit to the number of times you can kick the debt can down the road.
When default happens, your money will be nearly-worthless as hyperinflation hits this country. If this possible scenario doesn’t scare you, remember that it’s happened before in Russia, Germany, Argentina, Zimbabwe & other places.
Senility scares me. I’ve seen mild examples of it in my own family after relatives reached the age of 89 or 90. I recognized, long ago, that our nutritional needs change after age 50. We have diminished ability to absorb nutrients in food, especially Vitamin B-12 & magnesium that, if we don’t get enough in our body, contribute to diminished brain function;
I realize that medications often interfere with absorption of vitamins & minerals.
Therefore, I’ve increased my doses of key nutrients such as vitamin D3, potassium, chromium, zinc, calcium, B-complex & other antioxidants. My 5mg/meal B-12 methyl-cobalamin tablet is absorbed sublingually (under the tongue) & my vitamin C bypasses the digestive enzymes in the stomach as both liposomal & lypo-spheric, when I take it with each meal.
Extra vitamins & minerals are my insurance policy to try to avoid senility.
Avoid drug store vitamins. They are usually synthetic & have low doses of many vitamins & minerals. I buy 90% of my natural vitamins online at Vitacost.com to save 40% on my cost. I try to get the Life Extension brand, if available, as it is an excellent high grade manufacturer.
The day my eyesight & reflexes make it dangerous for me to drive is a scary thought. I hope this day never comes, but, if one lives long enough this day will definitely arrive for us all.
Falling scares me. Old folks can easily die hitting their head on an immovable object like a chimney or wooden fence when they lose their balance. I’ve already had bad falls in 2011 & 2017 (with the back of my head whiplashing into a corner of a chimney & a wooden fence post.) Two of my neighbors died in their 70s from falls, one with his head hitting the concrete driveway & the other with her head striking the sidewalk.
Being forgotten in one generation bothers me. So I plan to have a marker at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa, where I’m sure birds will visit, periodically, to leave their avian mark, like they do to statues in the park. I’d hate it if they forgot me, too.
Miscellaneous Story 6
Art Youmans, “Gradualism,” 14 November 2017
You train & condition a dog to perform a trick, like shake hands or to jump through a hoop, over a period of time.
Repetition is the key to training the dog. When applied to humans, this training or
brainwashing is called gradualism.
EXAMPLE: The key to the British power over the Irish, in the 19th century, was gradualism.
The British owned the farms & the Irish were uneducated serfs on these farms from the day they were born on the farm to the day they died. The only way for the Irish to have a life of their own was to leave British-controlled Ireland for a free country, like America.
In the 1950s to 2001, the U.S. public was conditioned or brainwashed with political correctness.
After 9/11/2001, this conditioning was intensified by The Patriot Act, where Americans were forced to be herded at airports, like sheep, searched, groped & subjected to harmful x-rays.
Because something is done gradually, it may be unnoticed by most Americans. Erasing traditional sexual norms began decades ago, but intensified with legislation passed during the Obama regime from 2009 to 2016 benefiting transgenders & gays, plus the large number of weekly TV shows (e.g. “The Big Bang Theory”) showing transgenders & gays in normal family situations.
Subtly, the word “gender” was substituted for the word “sex” on employment applications, & the unofficial policy of the USA was to feminize men in order to level the playing field for women.
For example, standards for women were lowered in jobs that required strength, like qualifying for firefighting, the police or the military. Men still had to meet higher standards, but were forced to risk their lives, serving side-by-side with women who didn’t meet these life-or-death standards because of political correctness.
Millions of young men are now raised in one parent, feminine households. It’s difficult to teach a boy to be a man with only a female head-of-household.
Men’s bodies are being further feminized by synthetic estrogens, called xenoestrogens in the soil, water, air, food supply, personal care & household products. These synthetic estrogens in the environment cause testicular cancer, male reproductive disorders & often “man boobs” in boys & men.
California & other politically-correct states are being allowed to require 1stgrade students to take questionnaire tests about their sexuality, plus subjects them to listen to lectures by folks who, 20 years ago, we’d have jailed as perverts. In many California schools, boys who identify as girls are allowed in girl’s bathrooms & vice versa. The same standards are likely also in place in other politically-correct states like Illinois, New York & Oregon etc.
What a screwed-up, politically-correct country we have become. Gradualism has trained us to accept politically-correct behavior just like a dog is taught to jump through a hoop. Woof! Woof!
I resent being brainwashed like a dog. Do you? What are you going to do about it?
Below is the best example of “Gradualism,” posted anonymously on the Internet circa 2008. It shows what the government has been doing to you for more than 20 years.
“There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.
“The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists, in his native country, who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist
“In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"
“The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke.
"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.
“When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.
“The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.
“ Soon they go back to eating the free corn .They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves so they accept their captivity." “The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. Arab petrodollars keep buying U.S. financial institutions & influencing Washington leaders, while the U.S. government keeps pushing us toward an open-border policy with Mexico and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs, like welfare & food stamps, to buy votes from generations of folks who’ve never worked a day in their lives, illegal aliens, favorable legislation for unions and trial lawyers, and subsidies to other large campaign donors like huge agricultural conglomerates, while middle-class citizens continually lose their freedom, like the wild pigs, just a little at a time.
“One should always remember three truths: 1) There is no such thing as a free lunch or a 100% honest-talking politician. 2) You can never hire a bureaucracy like the government to provide a service for you cheaper or better than you can do it yourself, and; 3) The only legal way you can fight City Hall is at the voting booth. Ask yourself: “What will you do, as you eat the free corn, when the gate slams shut on you in a few months?” Hey, you wild pigs! That monstrosity called Obamacare is like “free corn.” Make your vote count in 2018 !”
Obamacare is a monstrosity. When a corrupt democrat-controlled congress approved it in 2010, no one reported it was 10,000 pages of additional regulations, which would become so expensive for Americans that eventually the public would cry for the government to nationalize it, like they did to the passenger railroads in the early 1970s.
Another example of gradualism is the creeping number of tax regulations in America. From very few in 1913, when the federal income tax was voted in by congress on only those who earned $500,000 or more (the top 1%), total pages of the U.S. Tax Code have grown exponentially to over 70,000 pages, today. (SOURCE: “Bill Bonner’s Diary,” 20 October 2017)
Old age creeps up on you, gradually. Be aware of this gradualism & prepare for it.
You Are Never Too Old To Stay Active to Prevent Illness & Disease
According to the Mayo Clinic Health Letter, September 2017, former astronaut & Congressman John Glenn returned to space at age 77.
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright was still working at age 91.
Ronald Reagan was elected to his 2ndterm as President of the United States at age 73.
Dr. William Worrall Mayo founded the Mayo Clinic at age 70.
Robert Merchand, age 102, set a new world record for his age group by pedaling 17 miles in one hour. Incidentally, that’s an excellent time. At age 55, I only averaged 21 mph in a 20 mile bike leg of a short, flat Oklahoma triathlon, thirty years ago.
As you age, stay active both mentally & physically as you add on the years. Remember that you’re never too old to try to do a task you may have done earlier in life. Don’t give up without first trying.
Never. Never. Never give in!
“Better to have tried (Plan A) & failed than never to have tried at all.”
. Then, you can always formulate a Plan B, & hire someone to do Plan A for you.
Miscellaneous Story 7
13 June 2017, “Can Money Buy Happiness?” Art Youmans
These are three of my reflections on life.
In my opinion, if you are a moron, money can NEVER buy you happiness.
No matter how much you earn. No matter how much you save. No matter how much you’re loved. There are some people who will never be satisfied with their status in life & will take measures that only a moron would take to change their unhappy situation.
Comedian Robin Williams left a bank account of over $20 million when he hung himself with a belt on August 11, 2014. The written excuse the 63-year-old actor gave was that he was depressed. It’s likely that side effects of depression drugs may have influenced his self-destructive behavior.
I don’t know about you, but I’d never feel depressed if I had $20 million, like Robin Williams did, to spend on wine, women & song.
If Robin had invested that $20 million in a 5% dividend common stock & retired, he would have had an annual income of $1 million for the rest of his life. It’s seems hard to be depressed when you have a million bucks a year coming to you every year of your life without having to work for it. (If you doubt that there are common stocks that pay over 5% annual dividend, I can send you the symbols of six (6) of them that I own that pay 6% to 8% tax-deferred, annually.)
Robin could have visited a nutritionist or a medical doctor with a Ph.D. in nutrition, been tested for vitamin & mineral content in his bloodstream & received a recommendation for what minerals, like magnesium & lithium, that he was lacking in his diet, that caused/ increased his depression.
Suicide is an acceptable life exit ONLY if your pain is too great to endure, even with drugs like morphine, Vicodin or other pain-killing medications. (I took all of them when I lost my left leg (above the knee) in 1996 & felt depression for the 1st time when Hillcrest Medical Center & their surgeons presented me with a bill for $54,000 NOT covered by insurance & kicked me out of their rehab unit (to my home) 8 days after my leg was amputated. Hillcrest never expected me to repay my debt, but I negotiated (with Geana W’s help) their inflated bill (e.g.They charged me $5 per aspirin, $8 per box of tissues etc) & slowly paid off about $30,000+ in a few years.) I fought the bastards…using the words of WWII leader, Sir Winston Churchill, “Never give in! Never give in. Never, never, never, never- in nothing, great or small…”
If I had $20 million, like Robin, I would have spent all of it looking for a cure or a way to lessen depression. However, Robin, took the coward’s way out. He wasn’t a fighter. He gave up his fight against depression much too early.
Always remember that any man or woman may be famous &, at the same time, be a borderline moron. Robin might still be alive, today, if he was smart enough to invest a few hundred bucks in hiring a nutritionist & buying a few minerals & vitamins in which he was deficient.
Therefore, I’ve proved that if you are NOT a moron, money can buy you happiness, especially if you suffer from depression, like Robin did.
If you ever decide to play Russian roulette & get a tattoo, be aware that any tattoo is a series of skin punctures that don’t heal for a couple of weeks. Therefore don’t go swimming until the punctures heal if you value your life. (Also, avoid petroleum-based tattoo inks that absorb into the bloodstream.) See below, what Morninghealth.com has to say about tattoos & raw oysters, “Tattoos and Raw Oysters Can Kill You,” 6/7/2017
“Yeah, I know that millions of people have tattoos and have never had any (documented long-term) ill effects from getting them, HOWEVER, not everyone falls in that category. Consider what happened to a 31-year-old man who got a tattoo on his leg and then died a few days later. “
First of all, everyone getting a tattoo should be warned to not
go swimming for a period of time, generally several weeks to allow the skin to heal and seal. This is because a tattoo is made by many small punctures through the skin (the largest organ in the body) Those holes in the skin can allow harmful bacteria to enter the body and many bodies of water, from oceans, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams and even swimming pools can and often do harbor dangerous bacteria. “That’s what happen to the man. Five days after getting his tattoo, he went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Only a few days later, he got sick and started to chill and run a fever
The skin on his leg where the tattoo had just been applied became red and inflamed. The man went to the hospital and shortly thereafter, the area of the tattoo turned from red to purple and developed large fluid filled blisters. The speed at which his condition got worse concerned doctors and led them to believe that the man had contracted a bacteria known as Vibrio vulnificus. “
The doctors started immediate treatment, giving the man strong antibiotics from the time he was admitted and they diagnosed the cause. However, despite the aggressive treatment he was given, the man developed septic shock and died. His condition was complicated by his having a chronic liver disease. “Vibrio vulnificus is a form of deadly flesh-eating bacteria. It multiplies rapidly and literally eats a person’s flesh and ultimately killing them. This particular bacteria is halophilic, meaning it requires salt water, which is why it is found in ocean water. It also requires warmer temperatures which is why it is more common in the summer than other times of the year. Not only can a person contract this deadly virus by swimming in the ocean after getting a tattoo, but it can also enter the body via any wound on the skin and by eating infected raw oysters.” Caveat Emptor (“let the (tattoo) buyer beware”)
3. My opinion of former FBI Director, James Comey. Comey has always been a Puppet & Muppet for Barack Obama, former U,S.attorney general Loretta (“I always take the 5th Amendment”) Lynch & Bill & Hilary Clinton.
Obama, Lynch, & the Clintons plucked his strings just like a Puppeteer would in a Punch & Judy show. He’d sic the FBI like hungry pitbulls on whatever they wanted, or not sic them on whatever they didn’t want him to investigate.(NOTE: According to Comey, Lynch told him, before the eletion, NOT to consider it a serious matter when the FBI investigated Hilary’s illegal e-mail server in her bathroom & to give Hilary a slap on the wrist rather than an indictment.) This decision, which obviously was orchestrated from the White Houise, nearly
cost Trump the election.
My only question is: “Why the heck didn’t Donald Trump fire this news-leaking, weak-kneed, anti-Trump 6-foot-eight-inch tall SOB as soon as 6-foot-three-inch Donald took office on January 20th?” Why wait until now? Comey, one of many crooked lawyers who worked for the government, is shown, below, the 1st Muppet on the right in the first row. For those of you who are receiving this by e-mail, in the event that the Muppets’ photo doesn’t paste properly, Kermit the Frog is to Comey’s right & Miss Piggy is shown in the 2nd row, above him, along with 4 other strange-looking Muppets.
In my opinion, either Kermit the Frog or Miss Piggy could have done a much better job in government for the taxpayers than Barack Obama, Loretta Lynch & the Clintons combined.
At the very least, I can assure you that, unless they were very drunk, neither Kermit nor Miss Piggy would have given Iran $1.2 billion to build an H. Bomb & sold 20% of all U.S. uranium to Russia, like Obama & Hilary foolishly did.
Miscellaneous Story 8
Art Youmans, “Questions to ask Yourself,” February 21, 2017
Have you ever asked yourself these questions?
1 A human can live only 3 or 4 days without water. The USA has very little drinkable water left, replaces only 70% of what it uses each year with rainwater, & is expected to have major water shortages within 20 years.
Why do politicians spend so much time inviting uneducated, non-productive immigrants to this country to drink its water & overwhelm its welfare system, when it could be perfecting desalting technology for ocean water in all 50 states with the billions of dollars spent by politically-correct jerks who believe it’s more important supporting & educating millions of non-productive illegal aliens who will vote for them, than killing Americans with dehydration in 20 years?
2. A typical politician is elected to congress with a low $10,000 U.S. bank account. When he or she retires, a few years later, he’s still got a low $10,000 U.S. bank account, plus a numbered Swiss account & a few more stashed in the Cayman Islands, a secret Caribbean summer home as big as Senator Chuck Schumer’s, or Congresswoman Pelosi’s $40 million+ profit from insider trading, after numerous secret meetings with slick-looking lobbyists carrying plain manila envelopes.
Are politicians all honest until they get to congress, & meet lobbyists who are always there to buy their votes?
The answer is: “Not always…only 99.% of the time.
3. How are the Clinton’s doing these days?
ANSWER: Not too well. Hillary no longer is giving 20-minute speeches for over $200,000 apiece to Wall Street bankers & others who wanted to bribe her to give them favorable legislation when she became president. Bill is crying that the Clinton Foundation pipeline of contributions from lobbyists has dried up and Chelsea isn’t happy that her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, had to close the hedge fund he co-founded, Eaglevale Partners, in December 2016, a month after Hillary lost the presidential election.
Don’t feel sorry for this Clinton family, now worth over $100 million from lobbyist bribes & folks seeking favors for the past 16+ years. They have been on a roll for too long & deserve a bit of bad luck. The law of gravity works. Throw a rock into the sky & see what happens to it.
4. Is fluoride a poison that accelerates the aging process? I never thought so, until I read Dr. John Yiamouyiannis’ 1986 book, “Fluoride, The Aging Factor,” Health Action Press.
After reading this book, detailing former Nobel Prize winners describing the insanity of government bureaucrats actually buying fluoride aluminum & fertilizer waste from Alcoa & others & dumping this poison into the city water supply at a level of 1 part per million, I almost puked. Tulsa’s water, like about 60% of all water in the USA, is currently intentionally fluoridated by “we’ve always done it this way” ignorant politicians since the mid-1940s. Knowing that a symptom of Alzheimer’s was aluminum tangles in the brain, & having already replaced our aluminum cooking utensils with stainless steel, I decided to eliminate ALL fluoride from my life. In 1990,
I spent 200 bucks at Sam’s Club & installed a reverse osmosis unit under my kitchen sink to filter the fluoride, mercury, lead & other poisons from my drinking water. I currently use a Lowe's Whirlpool WHER 25 reverse Osmosis model that cost about $150. You may wish to investigate the dangers of fluoride in your water & most toothpaste.
Since fluoride is known to damage the immune system & accelerate aging, like old-age wrinkles in the skin & arthritis in the joints at an earlier age, if you don’t want to look & feel like 70 when you have your 60thbirthday, think about eliminating fluoride from your life. (NOTE: You can also buy a fluoride filter for your shower if you want to go as far as I have.)
If you have arthritis, ask your specialist if he’s ever heard of symptoms of arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis brought on by the body’s autoimmune response to fluoride? If he says “No,” get another specialist.
5. Question: What other advice do you have for us?
ANSWER: Whenever the government feeds you propaganda about a new vaccine or something they believe is good for you don’t blindly accept their paternalistic opinion as true. Do you remember the Swine Flu fiasco of 1976, when people were paralyzed by the vaccine?
Did you know that many vaccines are still prepared in a mercury (heavy metal) base?
Before you take any government approved vaccine, find out if the new base is as bad for you as mercury. It probably is.
I read an article about 12 years ago that, if you take 5 consecutive years of either the FLU or Pneumonia vaccine after age 60, you have a 20% greater probability of getting dementia. Since then, I have avoided getting all of these free shots from my doctor & laugh at the BS propaganda issued by Big Pharma & Uncle Sam, each year. Some of these vaccines given to pregnant mothers have been linked to problems like Autism in the baby.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Chairman of the World Mercury Project has offered $100,000 to anyone who can prove that mercury (AKA Thimerosal) is safe to inject in children. No one will ever claim that $100,000. Mercury is still in 48 million annual flu vaccines, tetanus toxoid, meningococcal vaccines & in pediatric vaccines given to 100 million children in the developing world. Actor Robert De Niro has given vocal support to Kennedy’s efforts to educate the public.
Think of life as a game of poker with the government & remember this quote by Will Rogers & others: “Trust everyone, but cut the cards.” Do your own research.
Also, never believe anyone who works for Uncle Sam who tells you what a 24-year old IRS investigator actually told me at the beginning of my first-ever IRS audit in downtown Tulsa in 1975:
“I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”
Being audited in 1975 was worse than getting a flu shot in a mercury base, but, I survived & am here to tell about it, today.
6. Question: Do you think President Trump will seek a 2nd term in 2020?
Answer: In my opinion, the odds are no more than 50/50 that Donald J. Trump will want to put himself & his family, again, through the riots, slow-walking of candidates, fake news & other paid-for opposition to every one of his executive orders & cabinet officer appointments that he has experienced in the only the first month of his presidency.
Donald’s only accepting an annual Presidential salary of $1.
The 95% democrat-controlled media is attacking him 24//7, barking at his heels like a pack of starving dogs. They did the same to George W. Bush in 2008. Their strategy worked in 2008. They believe it will work in 2020. I agree with them. Why change a winning strategy?
Would you work trying to save a country for a $1 a year salary when a billionaire named Soros was spending $30 million+ a year to undermine you?
Hell no! I wouldn’t subject me & my family to 4 more years of 24/7 vicious abuse.
It is my belief that Soros is going to step up his annual donations to $40 million or more to make sure that President Trump has the same opinion as I do about his chances for wanting the 2020 nomination from the Republican Party.
Unless George Soros can be stopped from hiring hundreds of thousands more anarchists & illegal aliens waving banners & screaming at the TV cameras, showing civil disobedience 24/7, protected by the ACLU & the 1at Amendment (Freedom of Speech), the republicans will, once again, end up with a loser candidate like Senator John McCain in 2020.
Unless those putting the brakes on change suddenly disappear or Donald J. Trump’s health greatly improves to that of a 50-year old man, I see Mr. Trump as a one term president who may go down in history as the greatest president of the United States since George Washington.
7. What the Heck is going on in Washington, D.C., with the Crazy Alligators?
Aristotle, student of Plato & teacher of Alexander the Great, had one common thread in his understanding of human nature, which helps us explain what is happening, today, in Washington, D.C. Aristotle believed than each of us has a final purpose (“telos”) or goal.
For example, President Trump’s goal is to “Drain the Swamp” of corruption in Washington, D.C.
However, corrupt alligators who live in the swamp don’t want the swamp drained. Their purpose is to attack him so visciously, & so continuously that President Trump will be up to his neck in alligators & forget his purpose is to drain the swamp.
Unless the President can drain the swamp, alligators named Schumer, Pelosi, Warren, Franken etc. will, like blood-sucking vampire bats, suck the life blood from capitalism & continue us further along the path to default (bankruptcy).
Below, is a typical news article about some of the fake news, flooding media outlets 24/7 from friends of the crazy alligators, which is paid for by a billionaire named Soros. Open Borders Advocates Continue Fake News Campaign against ICE www.libertyheadlines.com /open-borders-advocates-continue-fake-news-campaign-ice/ (Breitbart) As the weekend’s roundup of criminal aliens winds down, immigration advocates continue to spread fear mongering messages laced with falseinformation about the routine operation. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) agents routinely execute targeted criminal alien roundup operations. In May 2015,
Breitbart Texas reported 2,059 criminal aliens were rounded up during Operation Cross Check. ICE agents targeted 1,000 of the captured criminal aliens because they had felonyconvictions, officials reported.
Those range from voluntary manslaughter, child pornography, robbery, kidnapping, and rape. Fifty-eight of those captured were known gang members, while 89 were convicted sex offenders. In December, another targeted roundup netted 71 more criminal aliens in jail — including illegal immigrants with criminal convictions of drug trafficking, DUI, weapons violations, fraud, domestic violence, and burglary.
Similarly, a September roundup landed 36 more criminal aliens in jail. Operation Safe Nation and Operation No Safe Haven III rounded up 17 illegal immigrants who were thought to pose a public safety threat and 19 suspected of human rights violations in other countries, according to information provided by ICE officials to Breitbart Texas.
“These are existing, established fugitive operations teams,” ICE officials reported on Monday. “ICE does not conduct sweeps, checkpoints or raids that target aliens indiscriminately.” Despite these regularly occurring targeted roundup operations, immigration activists continue to spread false information about government retaliation and broad sweeping immigration operations. ICE officials called these rumors, speculation and false reporting “dangerous and irresponsible.”
The agency is not detaining huge numbers of people in Austin, Denise Gillman told the Austin American-Statesman . She operates the University of Texas Immigration Clinic.
“They’re making their presence known, driving around immigrant neighborhoods.” “It seems to me it’s intended to send a message that this is a crackdown, this is a new administration, and there will be more enforcement actions in immigrant neighborhoods,” she said. Gillman appears oblivious to statements made by ICE officials that this weekend’s operation was planned well in advance of the new administration’s taking office and that targeted immigration operations such as this occur on a regular basis…

Art Youmans "Anything Goes" June 21, 2016 The Best Laid Schemes of Mice and Men
You are like the mouse described in Robert Burns' poem, "To a Mouse," written by the Scottish poet in 1786.
Think of Burns as the U.S. Government with tremendous power over your life. In this poem, which is an apology to the mouse, Burns tells how how he, while plowing a field, upturned a mouse's nest, completely disrupting the mouse's life.
The meaning of this famous poem is "The most carefully prepared plans may go wrong." Burn's poem (see below) was the source for John Steinbeck's 1937 novel "Of Mice and Men," as well as this note to you.
"...But Mousie, thou art no thy lane (you aren't alone) In proving foresight may be vain :The best laid schemes o' mice an' men Gang afta-gley (often go awry) An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain, For promised joy..."
I am not a mind reader, but I can tell all you two-legged U.S.A. mice this fact about your financial future. IT WILL BE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE PAST
. Your financial future will be whatever the Obama or, if Trump loses, the Clinton democrat-controlled government wants it to be. The government is like Robert Burns with a plow. You are the mouse, reacting to whatever Burns decides to do with the plow.
In order to gain complete control of you mice (AKA taxpayers), the government is conditioning you, like training a dog or a marching soldier, by repetition with bullying by TSA government bullies at most airports, working to disarm you by overturning the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, increasing taxes & passing laws forbidding their interpretation of "hate speech.," & if they can get away with it the liberals will take away your guns, like the Nazis did to the Jews in 1938, before sending them to concentration camps & death,
The mass media in the U.S.A. is 95%+ democrat controlled. When the present administration controls the Internet, they will filter-out all the news they don't want you to hear, such as the 2012 Benghazi disaster that killed Ambassador Stevens & other Americans, & shows Clinton's incompetence & lies as Secretary of State. History always repeats itself when voters elect fools, like themselves, as their leaders...and these fools select fools, like themselves, as their appointees in key government positions.
In the 1920s & 30s, politically-correct world leaders ignored a madman named Hitler, who wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle) in 1924. Although Hitler wrote about what he'd do to "purify" the Aryan race, & expand German conquest, only Winston Churchill took him seriously. Most all other politicians refused to believe what Hitler wrote that he would do when he gained power in Germany.
Churchill was ridiculed in the government-controlled press as an alarmist. What few realize is how close Hitler came to winning WWII. If he had delayed attacking Poland by a year & maintained his alliance with Russia for a year & kept Japan from attacking Pearl Harbor for a year, I believe that a pacifist America would have sued for peace in December 1942 when V-3 rockets were obliterating Washington, D.C. & other cities along the east coast & Nazi jet fighters & bombers were in control of the European skies.
You & I would be speaking German, today, & a statue of Hitler would be in every town square in America. In 2016, politically-correct world leaders are not only ignoring another violence-promoting book, The Koran, but welcoming to their country millions of brainwashed-in-Madrassas (radical Islam schools) folks much more violent than were the Nazi executioners at the many death camps during WWII.
These violent folks literally-believe the "convert, pay tribute or die" lifestyle favored in "The Koran," & like Kamikazi fanatics of WWII, are more than willing to kill Infidels, like YOU, & die for their beliefs In worldwide polls, about 10% of Muslims are either radical Muslims or supporters of Radical Islam, who would hide fanatics from the law, if asked. With a U.S. Muslim population of 7 million to 12 million (according to CAIR, the main U.S. Islamic PR group), expect plenty more Orlando -style & Ft. Hood-style shootings plus Boston Marathon explosions in your future.
Currently, Donald Trump is the only politician taking the Radical Muslim problem seriously.
Like Winston Churchill, about 80 years earlier, Trump is also being ridiculed in the government-controlled press as an alarmist & racist. It's up to you to decide if you are a mouse or a man or woman when you vote for President in about 5 months. The future of America is in the hands of American citizen voters & illegal alien voters allowed to vote in 21 states on Election Day, November 8, 2016.
God help us all...we mice, men & women on election day. If we're lucky we'll win. If not, the U.S.A. will be a carbon copy of Mao's China, or Stalin's Russia within 8 years.
We'll likely see each other, then, in one of thousands of re-education camps or jails for those who prefer freedom instead of the current totalitarian regime.

Art Youmans “Sports,” 3 May 2016
I first read about the Chaos Theory in Michael Crichton’s novel, “Jurassic Park.”
In this theory, one meaningless event in one part of the world can lead to monumental changes in another part of the world.
Mississippi offensive football lineman, Laremy Tunsil, found this out the hard way last Thursday night in the National Football League (NFL) Draft.
Tunsil, certainly is not a rocket scientist, posted a 30-second video of him smoking (pot) from a mask equipped with a bong to his Twitter account.
Once NFL teams became aware he had a drug problem, few even wanted him on their team. Tunsil lost about $10 million in bonus money. Instead of being in the top 5 football players selected,
Tunsil was selected in the second round with a much lower signing bonus.
It’s sport to me to think about unintended consequences of the Chaos Theory.
One I’ve never forgotten are the actions of the Oklahoma Legislature about 1980, during the oil boom. Oklahoma was receiving so much tax money from oil drillers during the oil boom that one foolish politician told a “Tulsa World” reporter something like this:
“The state of Oklahoma has so much tax money (from oil) that we’re having a hard time spending it.”
Instead of saving the majority of the money for the future, these myopic jerks wasted it annually
Oklahoma has 77 counties, & much of the money was not used to build or improve schools, but was used to hire more school administers & split the state into a huge number of school districts, all with administrators, assistant administrators, secretaries etc.
The state became top heavy with highly-paid school bureaucrats & their support staffs.
Today, the State of Oklahoma is broke. It can’t fire these administrators, some of whom are paper-pushers in school districts with only 500 total students. Oklahoma can’t consolidate school districts, now, because of union contracts. Even teaching positions are not being replaced because of dumb politicians planning for the present in 1980…not the future.
The U.S. Congress has done the same by taking billions from the Social Security system for their pork projects & replacing the borrowed money with IOUs. Social Security is now as broke as Oklahoma is. What happens in football happens in politics. Both attract folks who disregard Murphy’s Law, & the Chaos Theory & can’t predict the future any distance ahead of their nose.
These jerks in the Oklahoma Legislature never remembered the story of the Egyptian Pharaoh in the Old Testament, who was troubled by a recurring dream he had for weeks: All night he dreamed of a line of 7 fat cows walking across a yard followed by 7 skinny cows.
After a while the Pharaoh couldn’t sleep & called for someone in the kingdom to interpret his dream. Joseph, a slave with a reputation for explaining dreams, was called to court.
Joseph explained that God was warning the Pharaoh that there were coming in the future 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine. Each year was represented by a cow.
The Pharaoh never had that dream again. He placed Joseph in charge of storing- an inventory of grain over the next 7 years to feed the population during the following 7 years of famine in Egypt.
Instead of remembering the story of Joseph & the Pharaoh, Oklahoma Legislators rewarded their supporters by creating unneeded pork positions as administers instead of investing in infrastructure or improving teaching methods with audio-visual instruction or teacher education.
Unfortunately, in America, long range planning for elected bureaucrats is the next election, usually no longer than 2 years ahead.

Art Youmans, "3 Modern Aesop Fables," 8 March 2016
About 1962, a 60-year-old relative of mine took my brother, John, & me to his favorite Chinese Restaurant in New York City where the specialty was a shrimp, Chinese vegetables & brown rice dish 3” thick (in a bell-shaped curve) on a 15” diameter plate.
After we ordered this specialty of the house, my relative called the head waiter over three separate times during a five minute span & said:
“Are you sure that my portion won’t be too much for me to eat?”
Each time, the Chinese head waiter flashed his buck teeth, bowed & assured my relative that his portion would not be too large for him to eat.”
About 20 minutes later, my brother, John, & I had heaping full plates of delicious shrimp, Chinese vegetables & brown rice before us. My relative had a near-empty 15” plate with hardly more than a thimble-full of tiny shrimp topped with 1 tablespoonful of brown rice & a few Chinese vegetables.
John’s & my eyes met & we silently laughed at the relative’s plate which was practically empty.
Although we all were charged $5.99 apiece for the food, John’s & my portions were about 50-times larger than the relative’s portion. Since the relative was picking up the check, we suppressed our laughter, but we both remember this humorous event from over 55 years ago.
The moral of this story is: “Keep your mouth shut about too large portions in a Chinese restaurant or folks will be laughing at you 55 years later.”
John & I decided that if the relative had called the head waiter over one more time, his plate would have been empty! Incidentally, the next time this relative invited John & me to this restaurant, he kept his mouth shut.
Confucius say: “Man who opens mouth too much in Chinese restaurant, gets what he deserves.
2nd Aesop Tale
In 1938 or 1939, my brother, John. & I learned simple math at a local seafood restaurant, The Barnacle, located near the Atlantic Ocean in Connecticut
. Lobster meals were priced at one dollar a pound. Mom & Dad usually ordered 2 pound lobsters for 2 bucks each.
John & I got the 1 buck lobsters. One evening, my parents were joined by a couple, George & Betty Ellis at The Barnacle.
Betty ordered Chicken instead of seafood & ended up with a meal similar to my relative’s on the previous page. Served, centered on a huge 15" lobster plate was a quarter-sized chicken croquette, which brought giggles from us kids.
Her husband called the waiter over & complained about his wife’s tiny serving, but the waiter just shrugged his shoulders & walked away.
Confucius say: “Order lobster at a lobster house, Burritos in a Spanish joint, burgers in a greasy hamburger place & chicken in a chicken shack & you’ll seldom be disappointed.”
3rd Aesop Tale
In 1965, my family met at a Chinese restaurant in Tulsa. The Chinese lady waitress went from person to person taking their order. Finally she came to a 5-year old granddaughter, Denise, who is now an RN at St. Francis Hospital. The waitress smiled & asked the child, softly, “And what would you like?”
Denise replied, “A hot dog,” which brought laughter from everyone including the waitress.
Denise’s Mom was embarrassed & started to explain to the child that you can’t order hot dogs in a Chinese restaurant, when the waitress interrupted.
“We will get her a hot dog.”
Denise got her hot dog & was smiling when we left the Chinese restaurant, that evening.
Confucius say: ”Just because I’m right 99% of the time, in Chinese restaurants & Chinese laundries, I’m wrong more often than right.”

Art Youmans, “A Military Version of Nature's Sharks,” 27 January 2015, 909 words
I have always been fascinated with the military version of nature’s sharks, the German U-Boat. A predator, the U-Boat stalks its prey until the last moment when it strikes without warning. Sucker-punching its enemy, the U-boat had a terrible toll on the Allied shipping both in WWI & WWII.
Even though the WWI U-Boat carried only 6 unreliable torpedoes, the top 3 most-successful U-Boat commanders (in total cargo vessels tonnage sunk) all fought in WWI.
.Most of their victories were sunk by a single 8.8 cm deck gun in WWI, since the WWI torpedoes were unreliable. The all-time best U-Boat German commander, Lothar von Arnauld de la Periere (born 1886) sunk 493,716 tons of cargo ships (194 ships) & fired a total of 74 torpedoes hitting the enemy only 39 times
. His victories came in the Mediterranean, where most of the WWI naval action was concentrated.
The typical WWI U-boat carried only 6 torpedoes, no mines & was about 214’ long with a crew of 30-35 compared to the typical WWII Nazi U-Boat with 14 torpedoes or 26 mines, 220’ long with a crew of 30-52.
The 2nd most successful U-Boat commander was Walter Forstmann (born 1883) who sunk 384,300 tons of Allied cargo ships (146 ships) during WWI. Forstmann, a lawyer, served in WWII as a desk-bound Naval Officer in the submarine corps.
The 3rd most successful U-Boat commander was Max Valentiner (born 1883), who sunk 299,300 tons of Allied cargo ships (150 ships) during WWI.
The 4th most successful U-Boat commander was Otto Kretschmer (born 1912), who sunk 273,043 tons of Allied cargo ships (46 ships) during WWII.
The 5th most successful U-Boat commander was Wolfgang Luth, (born 1913), who sunk 225,204 tons of Allied cargo ships (46 ships) during WWII
. I believe that the British breaking the German Enigma Code used by the U-Boats, in about March 1940, (with the first modern computer), made it easier for the British to intercept & destroy the U-boats in WWII. Although the WWII U-boats were larger, faster & carried more than twice as many torpedoes as WWI U-Boats, better WWII defenses probably limited the Nazi kills after the German navy’s Enigma Machine Code was broken.
By the end of WWII, the Brits had built 210 Enigma Machine decoders, which were scattered throughout Britain, to protect them from a lucky Nazi air strike. Prime Minister Winston Churchill credited British mathematician Alan Turing & his 4-man, 1-woman staff at Bletchley Park (who designed the decoding machine that broke the German Enigma Code) with shortening WWII by at least two years
. Bletchley Park is 47 to 55 minutes NW of London by train or bus. There is an Enigma museum there..
Knowing the location of the Nazi U-Boat wolfpacks, allowed them to be destroyed by the Brits from the air & sea before they could destroy Allied cargo & troop ships carrying essential supplies & soldiers to Britain.
Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, would have been impossible without the effort of Alan Turing & his staff, who designed the first modern computer a few years earlier.
An excellent, Academy-Award-nominated movie about Alan Turing, “The Imitation Game,” staring Benedict Cumberbatch, is now playing in local Tulsa theaters. It was a terrific film & is nearly as good a film as “American Sniper,” directed by Clint Eastwood & staring Bradley Cooper. Both are 5-star films in my opinion & both should win numerous awards for acting & directing & special effects if the balloting is honest & not politically-correct. (e.g. Anti-war-leaning Academy Award judges might never vote for a war movie, like “American Sniper,” or for a John-Wayne-style conservative director like Clint Eastwood.)
NOTE: I’ve only been inside one U.S. WWII submarine in the late 1940s & found it cramped & claustrophobic
. However, in 1955, when my brother, John ,,a Strategic Air Command (SAC) flight engineer gave me a tour of his B-36 bomber (the largest piston-engine bomber ever mass-produced with a 230’ wingspan slightly longer than the length of a U-boat) at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, it was also claustrophobic.
, I discovered this huge airplane, called The Peacemaker, had less walking space, inside, for its 9-man crew than a cramped WWII submarine, due to the vast amount of electronics this massive airplane had installed to service the atomic bomb(s) it carried
. I was a muscular 6’ tall, 195-pound guy at the time & remember that I had to squeeze sideways down the single passageway between the electronic cabinets to get from the cockpit to the rear of this huge B-36 bomber. In fact, the B-36 was more cramped inside than a WWII submarine,
in my opinion. (A man the size of a fat Santa Claus could never have squeezed his way from front to back of an operational B-36.) What I remember, mostly, is my brother’s warning to not walk near the black-painted area where a metal hose protruded from the underside of the B-36’s tail. “That’s where the toilet empties,” he warned me. “It’s the most dangerous part of the airplane.”
NOTE: Regarding the future Queen of England, (Catherine) Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, wife of Prince William, both her grandmother & the grandmother’s twin sister worked at top-secret Bletchley Park during WWII. .
Kate has taken a great interest in this important British museum because of these family connections.

Art Youmans, “Unintended Consequences,” 29 September 2009
Twenty-four rabbits were brought to Australia by a farmer & hunter in 1859.
Since then, rabbits have overrun Australia, like illegal aliens have overrun Europe & the U.S.A.
Some estimate that more rabbits than people now populate Australia. (Australia’s population is 22 million.)
The current rabbit infestation appears to have originated with the release of 24 wild rabbits by Thomas Austinon his property, Barwon Park, near Winchelsea, Victoria, in October 1859 for huntingpurposes.
While living in England, Austin had been an avid hunter, regularly dedicating his weekends to rabbit shooting.
Upon arriving in Australia, Austin discovered it had no native rabbit population
Austin asked his nephew William Austin in England to send him 24 grey rabbits, five hares, 72 partridges and some sparrows so that he could continue his hobby in Australia by creating a local population of the species.
However William could not source enough grey rabbits to meet his uncle's order. So he topped it up by buying domestic rabbits.
One theory as to why the Barwon park rabbits adapted so well to Australia is that the hybrid rabbits that resulted from the interbreeding of the two distinct two types were particularly hardy and virile.
Many other farms released their rabbits into the wild after Austin. At the time he had stated,
"The introduction of a few rabbits could do little harm and might provide a touch of home, in addition to a spot of hunting."[5
] Rabbits are extremel yprolific creatures, and spread rapidly across the southern parts of the country. Australia had ideal conditions for a rabbit population explosion.
With mild winters, rabbits were able to breed the entire year. With widespread farming, areas that may have been desert, scrub, or woodlands were instead turned into vast areas with low vegetations, creating ideal habitat for rabbits.
Humans are directly responsible for the initial release of the rabbits, and indirectly responsible for modifying the Australian landscape for ideal rabbit survival
. In a classic example of unintended consequences, within ten years of the introduction in 1859, rabbits had become so prevalent that two million could be shot or trapped annually without having any noticeable effect on the population. It was the fastest spread ever recorded of any mammal anywhere in the world.
Today rabbits are entrenched in the southern and central areas of the country, with scattered populations in the northern deserts. Farmers' fences don't deter rabbits, who either jump over or dig under them.

Art Youmans, “Make a Bucket List, Today.” 28 July 2009
“Whatever could go wrong… will go wrong.”
If you try to plan your life beyond today….forget it. Remember Murphy’s Law.
Your Living Will could be lost or disregarded by your spouse or children or MD. Your grave plot could be already occupied.
the government could change the law to disregard the health needs of seniors, which could shorten the length of your life. (Senior health care will be rationed, like butter & gasoline were rationed during World War II.)
Do you have a spirit of adventure?
Since so much could go wrong this year and in the future, consider getting together a “Spirit of Adventure” BUCKET LIST, now, that includes everything you always wanted to do but were afraid to try, such as:
Your first skydive Running or walking your first 5 Km road race. Your first visit in the buff to a nudist colony Your first barrel roll (e.g. summersault) in an airplane etc.
At the bottom of this paragraph, write a few things you always wanted to do, but were too scared to try
. After you write them down, the next step is to finish doing them all, before America’s Universal Health Care, based on Britain & Canada’s rationed health care systems (using cost/benefit ratios that favor the young rather than the old), replace the U.S.’s wonderful Medicare health system for seniors.
When you scroll down this page,, pay attention to a quote about senior citizens (including you or will include you one day) made by the architect of America’s proposed new Universal Health Care plan. If this quote doesn’t scare you…then nothing will:
“those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80% of the total health-care bill”
The future is usually uncertain, but you can be sure of one thing in your future.
Your health care in 2010 & beyond is going to be a lot worse than it was in 2009.
That knee or heart operation you might need in 2010 will go to a 20-year-old. Using a cost/benefit system., why waste a knee or heart valve replacement on a 75-year-old when there would be more benefit to society to give it to a youngster who’ll be a taxpayer for the next 50+ years.?

Art Youmans, “New Trend In The Marketplace,” 25 June 2019
In the good old days of Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter & Reagan, you could take practically any product, from a tractor to a camera, to a local shade tree mechanic who could fix it, inexpensively.
Now, 30 to 40 years later, times have changed. Many of these local shade tree mechanics will be out of business because of a new trend, pioneered by Apple, Inc.
If you’ve ever tried to get a 3rd party to fix an Apple product, you’ll realize the trend. For example, you have a 3rd party fix your IPhone 8.
When Apple releases a new IPhone 8 software update, you’ll find that you can’t use your IPhone 8. It won’t work because a 3rdparty tinkered with it.
Until our antiquated software copyright laws are reduced, typically, from 90 years to about 10, you’ll find that repairing any product containing computer software will hit you much harder in the wallet, now, than it did, a few years ago.
Every day, more manufacturers are putting electronic locks on their computer-aided systems, & they’re allowed to do it by law.
Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, a tractor owner, for example, commits a crime if he tries to go around these security measures. This means that the owner can no longer modify any computer settings, even if emissions laws change.
Any changes must be made by the dealer or the owner is forced to buy a new tractor. No shade tree mechanics or less expensive repair shops would be able to work on this equipment.
This trend will shortly affect how you repair your car. Currently, my Subaru is serviced by a non-dealer specializing in Japanese cars, who charges half the hourly-repair-rate of a Subaru dealer.
Lobbyists have given manufacturers a great advantage over consumers by getting all the laws passed by congress that drain your pocketbook, legally.
Consumers are not in the lobbying game, but manufacturers are in it 100%.
As consumers, without lobbyists in Washington, D.C., we’re screwed by Big Business.
Whenever lobbyists are involved, never forget the cartoon motto of the major newspaper of Greenwich Village, N.Y in the 1960s when I lived there, “Expect the Unexpected.”
In the cartoon, a couple was pictured in bed, peering up at a huge elephant, whose rear end was positioned over their heads, straddling their bed.
Art Youmans “Sounds of Yesterday” (2012)
My Old Kentucky Home: words & music by Stephen C. Foster (ALL SING TOGETHER)
“The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home ‘Tis summer, the people are gay; The corn-top’s tips and the meadow’s in the bloom, While the birds make music all the day…”
Moments before every Kentucky Derby horse race, it’s been a tradition for the tens of thousands of spectators to sing the official Kentucky State Song, “My Old Kentucky Home,” (NOTE: Over 165,000 spectators filled the stands & grounds of the 2012 Kentucky Derby & sang “My Old Kentucky Home.”)
In the 2010 Disney movie, “Secretariat,” I was amazed to see thousands of spectators stand in their 1973 attire & hair styles & sing “My Old Kentucky Home.” This transported me back about 39 years in time to a few years after I’d moved to Tulsa from New York City. It was also unusual to see a movie where no one smoked tobacco…no cigarettes, pipes or cigars. Life was simpler then with neither cell phones nor computer gadgets. It was the good old days for me.
Women wore the finest in 1973 spring fashion…pastel-colored suits, frilly dresses or bold separates coordinated with oversized Derby hats & accessories. Men sported seersucker suits, light-colored sport coats, Madras plaid jackets & flashy ties.
Music, like “My Old Kentucky Home,” can have great effect on folks. It can act like a time machine on your mind & take you anywhere from the present to the past. Background music in the movie heightened the tension when two antagonistic, competing jockey’s eyes meet & their horse’s eyes meet seconds before the gates open & the race begins.
Anytime I want to take 39 years off my age, (which is nearly every day), I slip the “Secretariat” DVD into my computer, fast forward to Scene 12, The Kentucky Derby, listen to thousands sing “My Old Kentucky Home” in 1973, & watch “Secretariat,” the world’s fastest horse, win the 1stleg of his triple crown. (Secretariat won the 1973 Kentucky Derby (1-1/4 miles), the 1973 Preakness (1-3/16 miles) & The 1973 Belmont Stakes (1-1/2 miles) in world- record times that have never been exceeded.)
All three of these races are part of the story on this DVD of an underdog red-colored horse who started most races in last place out of the starting gate, picked up speed midway in the race, dashed past every horse ahead of him & ended up a winner.
Secretariat (1970-89), who won the 1973 Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths in a time that has never been approached by any other horse, is considered to be the world’s fastest horse by racing experts.
Some folks campaigning for the U.S. Presidency, like Senator John Kerry & Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, spent thousands of dollars for a series of Botox treatments to look & feel years younger.
Practical people, like me, spend $12.95+ shipping for a “Secretariat” movie DVD of 1973 events, that makes one feel 39 years younger, immediately.
Which is better for feeling younger…the Botox or the DVD?
I’d vote for the $12.95+ shipping solution.
For Your Information
To show how extraordinary a race horse Secretariat was in 1973, comparing times with the 2012 winners of the three Triple Crown races, Secretariat would have beaten the 2012 Kentucky Derby winner by 12 lengths, the 2012 Preakness Stakes winner by 14 lengths & the 2012 Belmont Stakes winner by 32 lengths.
He was definitely a super horse. (SOURCE: www.ask.comwhich states the following for comparing horse racing times: “It depends on the distance the race is run over and the track conditions but generally 5 lengths to the second is a good guide.”) Another formula is: 1 length = 1/5th of a second. See below for the 2012 times for the winner in the three 2012 Triple Crown races compared to Secretariat’s record-breaking times in 1973, when he was a three-year-old horse.
Kentucky Derby Secretariat 1973 1:59.40, 12 lengths faster than 2012 winner, I’ll have Another 2:01.83 Preakness Stakes Secretariat 1973 1:53.00, 14 lengths faster than 2012 winner, I’ll Have Another 1:55.94 Belmont Stakes Secretariat 1973 2:24.00, 32 lengths faster than 2012 winner, Union Rags 2:30.42
When Secretariat died in 1989, an autopsy revealed that his heart was more than twice as large as the heart of a normal horse, which may be one reason he was so much faster (over both short & long distances) than any other race horse in the past. (No lung size was mentioned.) Race times were first recorded around 1875 in the Kentucky Derby, 1873 in the Preakness Stakes & 1867 in the Belmont Stakes. A racehorse’s age is always listed as January 1st, regardless of when he/she was born during that year
The average horse lives 25-30 years, but one, named Billy, lived to age 62. There are exceptions to every rule. Secretariat was an exceptional horse for speed & endurance while Billy set the record for having the most Methuselah genes.
Sadly, in a cruel twist of fate, another super horse named Sham finished about 2.5/5th of a second (2-1/2 lengths) behind Secretariat in both the 1973 Kentucky Derby & 1973 Preakness Stakes. Had Sham raced in any other year, he could have easily won both the Kentucky Derby & Preakness Stakes & gained immortal fame.
Art Youmans, "Ethanol is a Fraudulent Product," circa 2010
The United States is the only country foolish enough to use a food to produce fuel in a world where people die of hunger every day in third-world countries. (Brazil’s ethanol is produced using sugar cane, not corn.)
Next year, this law mandates that 15 billion gallons of ethanol gasoline be produced each year, starting in 2015, up from 13.2 billion gallons in 2012. Corn farmers love this law, but it has angered poultry, hog & cattle farmers who have seen huge price jumps as corn is diverted to make ethanol vehicle fuel. High corn prices have influenced U.S. farmers to convert former wheat & other food production land into corn fields, which will cause the supply of these food products to fall & prices rise.
Because of this crackpot law, consumer food prices should escalate well into the future. Seniors & others on fixed incomes are going to be squeezed financially thanks to dumb laws like this
. Ethanol gasoline ruins small motors, like lawnmowers, rots out hoses on older cars, provides 20% less mileage as 100% gasoline, provides & costs more to produce than it sells for. Only a fool could think that the Renewable Fuel Law was good for this country.
UNIONS Bolstered by their recent election win on November 6th, unions are flexing their muscles, with continuous wage increase demands from employers desperate to keep from being bankrupted by ObamaCare. Workers for the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers International went on strike against Hostess Brands Inc., recently, when Hostess proposed cutting salaries 8%, reducing benefits & overtime rules in order to say in business.
The unions refused to compromise, so, last Friday, the company that produces Wonder Bread, Twinkies, Ding Dongs & other products was forced to liquidate. Union workers at Hostess earned $16-18/hour, 35% over the national average according to Bureau of Labor Statistics. (“Daily Reckoning,” 11/17/12)
18,500 employees will be out of jobs, including a step-grandson, manager of a Florida Wonder Bread plant that layed off about 40 unnecessary union workers, last year. A day after the layoffs, the grandson’s car was firebombed in the company parking lot by union thugs.
Because of unions & government red tape & regulation, expect unemployment & prices of all products in the U.S.A. to go nowhere but UP…UP…UP…UP …UP …UP …UP …UP …UP.

Art Youmans, “Warum spreche ich nicht deutsch?” (Why am I not speaking German, today?), 22 August 2017
Soldiers in the military, who make up an Army, are like a wartime baseball team. They are only as strong as their weakest link. For example, the pitcher who never can throw a strike will usually doom any team to defeat. A drugged manager would usually lead to a losing team.
In WWII, both the NAZI pitcher & manager was fortunately a crackpot who could seldom throw a strike, was crazy, had terrible judgement & was drunk with power
. This dictator crackpot, who was Germany’s boss during WWII, made so many errors in judgement that it’s not amazing that the NAZIs lost the war, although they were technologically light years ahead of the Allies (the good guys) in rocket, jet, smokeless gunpowder & assault rifle technology.
If Hitler hadn’t overruled his Field Marshals so often, we’d be speaking German in school, today, & FDR would have asked for a peace treaty after V-3 rockets blasted away most of Washington, D.C. & New York City by 1944…a year before the A-Bomb would be tested,
Workable plans for the V-3 rockets were discovered after Germany’s surrender on May 7, 1945.
Although most Americans don’t realize it, the Allies were very lucky that the NAZI, who made most strategic decisions for Germany, was a madman with not just poor decision-making but horrible judgement.
The leaders & generals who make the least mistakes usually win all the wars they’re involved in. This axiom is definitely true for the Allies in WWII.
In my opinion, Germany could have easily won WWII (with rocket & jet technology) if they had waited 2 to 3 years to invade Poland. This prompted Poland’s ally, Britain, to declare war on them in 1940.
They should also have not started a 2-front war in 1940 by invading Russia until they had defeated Britain.
If Hitler had also left decisions to his experienced generals, like his best Field Marshal, Erich von Manstein, followed by Erwin Rommel, the Desert Fox, Heinz Guderian & Gerd von Rundstedt (all as brilliant a leader as George S. Patton Jr.), the result of WWII would have been very different for you, me & Dwight Eisenhower.
Germany had 4 guys as brilliant as Patton. The Allies had only one.
When Field Marshall Heinz Guderian, (an outspoken leader, like Patton), who invented the Blitzkrieg & brilliant tank warfare techniques, objected to Hitler keeping him from capturing Russian oil fields by continuously diverting him to other objectives (e.g. Stalingrad) , Hitler, who hated criticism, simply removed him from command as a Field Marshal.
Capturing Russia’s Caucasus’ oil fields (between the Black Sea & Caspian Sea in southern Russia) was the main objective of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia
. Instead of bypassing Stalingrad, Hitler delayed the German army northern advance to the south by months trying to capture it.
Overruling his Field Marshals, Hitler delayed his capture of Stalingrad & Moscow too long, before an early winter doomed the NAZI army, equipped with only summer clothes & summer equipment.
Hitler’s refusal to allow his army in Stalingrad to tactically-retreat & regroup outside the city while Russian defenses were weak, resulted in his army being destroyed as the Russian forces were reinforced & resupplied.
As a result of Hitler’s meddling, the NAZI army got within 15 miles of Moscow before the early winter hit Russia. For any chance of defeating Russia, Japan had to also invade Russia, which they never did.
Germany ran out of oil by 1945 (which they could have got from captured Russian Caucasus’ oil fields.).
Although he fancied himself a military genius from his past as a corporal in WWI, Hitler was the world’s dumbest & incompetent, micromanaging world leader, like Jimmy Carter, (who brought Khomeini back to Iran), when he drove brilliant scientists, like Albert Einstein, from Germany.
Germany lost WWI because the Kaiser tried to fight a 2-front war on both the Eastern (Russia) & Western (Britain, France, USA) front.
Hitler made the same mistake that caused Germany to lose the war, although all his Field Marshals advised him to bring Britain to its knees before either invading the USSR or declaring war on the USA.
These were Hitler’s greatest errors of WWII.
Few people know that Germany invented the world’s 1st assault rifle, the MP43 submachine gun around 1940. It had the firepower of the AK-47 & was light-enough for a foot soldier to carry.
Hitler rejected this incredible gun with many times the firepower & accuracy of enemy rifles. (Hitler tossed the 1st working model of this gun out of a 2ndstory window to show his displeasure with it.)
His Field Marshals loved the new gun, which used a different caliber bullet than the standard 7.72mm rounds that Germany had 8 billion in its inventory
. By the time the MP43, actually a 11.48-pound rifle with a 30-round magazine, was finally approved as a “machine pistol,” the war was nearly over. (Germany classified this rifle as a pistol to get its approval.)
Hitler made another error diverting his air force from bombing British air fields to destroying London at the 11th hour, when he had the RAF on the ropes during the Battle of Britain in 1940
..He also foolishly deployed his V-1 & V-2 rockets on civilian rather than military targets. Hitler also decided to make his jets into fighter-bombers instead of ME-262 fighters.
By the time he realized his error (April, 1944), the war was nearly over.
If he had concentrated on building jet fighters, 93mph faster than Allied fighters, he would have wiped the European skies of Allied aircraft.
Nazi Field Marshals, including Rommel, advised Hitler that the Allies would invade at Normandy, but Hitler brushed them off, convinced that the landing would take place at highly-fortified Calais,
the closest invasion point from Britain. Not realizing the value of submarine warfare,
Hitler also ignored building enough U-Boats before the war began. He concentrated on aircraft, armor, vehicles & guns.
Hitler had the entire British army, including about 400,000 British, French, Belgian & Canadian troops surrounded at the French port of Dunkirk. All he had to do was move his Panzer (tanks) & infantry troops forward to destroy the Allies trapped on the beach
. Instead he let his buddy, Herman Goering get the glory of the victory. It took Goering 1-1/2 days to get his aircraft operational, during which time the Allies strengthened their defenses & evacuated most of the troops from the beach.
Only 60,000 troops & all their equipment were captured by the NAZIs at Dunkirk on 4 June 1940. After King George 6th declared a National Day of Prayer 26 May 1940, storms grounded the Luftwaffe for an extra day or so & the English Channel became calm enough for about 900 little English boats to navigate safely to evacuate troops.
Goering, like Hitler, Der Fuhrer, was an example of “The Peter Principle.” He also had never been in charge of anything, before Hitler placed him in charge of the German air force, the Luftwaffe.
Luckily for the free world, both men were military morons & God seemed to be on the Allied side.
Hitler should have stayed an artist.
He screwed up the world for over 13 years, caused tens of millions of unnecessary deaths & seldom took advice.
As it turns out, he wasn’t as smart as he thought he was. In my opinion,
Hitler’s continuously overriding advice from his Field Marshals is the ONLY reason that we’re still speaking English, & not German, in the USA, today.
Few Americans have any idea how lucky we were to win WWII. From: Art Youmans, “Warum spreche ich nicht deutsch?” (Why I am not speaking German today?), 22 August 2017
NOTE: The Russian army had over 6 million soldiers (one report estimated a potential of 11 million soldiers, including women) vs only about 3 million in the entire German army in 1940. Additionally, Russian women were fighter pilots & commanded female-manned tanks in WWII battles.
Crazy Hitler considered the Russians as poorly-organized & motivated as the French, Belgium, Luxembourg & the Netherlands, whom he conquered in the total time of about 6 weeks. He was wrong, again.
Stalin, as crazy as Hitler was, refused Russian fighter pilots women’s request for parachutes, until late 1943, as he believed that women panic too easily & would bail out of their airplanes at the first sign of danger.
When his top female fighter pilot ace, 21-year old Lydia Litvyak from Moscow, with 12 solo kills & 4 shared kills of NAZI aircraft, died from lack of a parachute (at the famous tank Battle of Kursk 1 August 1943), Stalin changed his mind.
Russian male pilots always flew with parachutes but women pilots didn’t get them until the war was nearly over.

Art Youmans, “The Bravest Frenchman in WWII Was a Woman,” 2001
I have great respect for those who served their country in wars and during time of need, like Bob Bittick, Warren Smith, Helen Sweeny, John Bourell and others I’ve met at Southminster Senior Center Writing & Discussion Group, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from December 1997 to the present.
I was drafted into the Army during The Korean War. Although I officially did my duty during my time as a Corporal (i.e. discharged as an E-4 Sergeant), & spent time in the artillery, infantry & Ski Troops. My presence in uniform had nothing to do with the outcome of the Korean War.
However, one person who had as much influence as Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower on the outcome of the Normandy Invasion and the war in France, during WWII, was a French citizen named Marie-Madeleine Meric Fourcade.
The overall head of French Wartime Resistance from 1940-45, Marie-Madeleine Fourcade, code-named Herisson (Hedgehog), was a female. Although four-times captured by the Gestapo, Fourcade escaped each time and kept her 3,000-member French sabotage and information service providing invaluable material to Britain’s M16 (The British equivalent to our FBI.)
Marie-Madeleine worked as secretary to WWI French hero, Georges Loustaunau-Lacau, who developed a rudimentary intelligence network in 1940 in Vichy France to feed information about the Nazis to British M16 agents. He was arrested in 1940, leaving his secretary to take over for him.
Using courage not expected from a woman, she built up a strong network of underground spies throughout France who reported to her a continual stream of information about the enemy. She transmitted this information about enemy troop & ship movements, coastal defenses, weapons factories, railroad schedules, ammunition dumps & other data to Britain by radio
. In July 1943, she was smuggled to Britain (by airplane) to consult on the coming Normandy invasion, after she had accomplished one of her major exploits in smuggling French General Henri Giraud out of France to join the Free French Forces on the eve of the North African landings.
When her airplane landed in Great Britain in 1943, British diplomats who met her were astounded that the bravest, most daring Frenchman in occupied WWII France was a woman.
For three years, they knew her by only her code-name Herrison (Hedgehog), and assumed, like the Nazis did, that the French Resistance leader was a man.
After the Normandy landings in June, 1944, Marie-Madeleine returned to France to continue her underground operations until the war ended.
This woman did more than just her duty. She risked her life for the love of her country every day in occupied France. She was like a front-line combat soldier who never thought about the risks she took. To her, she was helping her country regain its freedom…not risking her life.
For the great sacrifices she made for her country, after the war she was awarded the highest civilian awards in France, Belgium and Great Britain, including:
Commandeur de la Legion d’Honneur; Rosette de la Resistance; Croix de Guerre, France & Belgium Officer de l’Ordre de Leopold, and; Officer of the Order of the British Empire O.B.E.
During WWII, her underground network identified its agents with names of animals and birds, and she took the name Hedgehog. The Gestapo called her spy ring “Noah’s Ark.” She used that name for her wartime memoirs which she published in France in 1968.
Marie-Madeleine appeared as a witness in the 1987 Nazi War Criminal trial of the SS Officer in charge of the Gestapo in Lyon, France (11/42-8/44) Klaus Barbie, “The Butcher of Lyon.”
Marie-Madeleine Fourcade was active as an advocate against Racism & Antisemitism until weeks before her death in Paris on July 20, 1989 at age 80
. Her life story reads like the exploits of a female James Bond, but unlike Bond, all the facts in her story are true. It goes to show that life can be more exciting than fiction.
NOTE 1. Marie-Madeline Meric was her name during WWII. After the war she married French industrialist Hubert Fourcade in 1947. She had a total of five children, two with Edouard Meric, an Army Officer she divorced in 1929, and three with Hubert Fourcade.
NOTE 2. Marie-Madeleine Fourcade’s wartime memoirs, “Noah’s Ark” was published (an English translation) in New York in 1974 by E. P. Dutton & Co., Inc. Copies may be available in the Tulsa Public Library system, at used bookstores or on the Internet on Amazon.com

About 30 days ago, after 3 months, I wrote that I was in the 15% category who showed no benefit from the procedure.
However, two days ago I felt the muscles around my right knee flex powerfully, as if rising from a deep sleep. Today, my knee feels like it did thirty years ago. Sometimes you invest money & when it has a positive outcome four months later you smile & cheer. HURRAH!!!
The following is supposed to be a joke, but it's really true:
QUESTION: “What's the main difference between a young man or young woman & an old
ANSWER : “The old man or old woman is the one who seldom looks in the mirror.”
It's sad, but our bodies “rust out” like an old jalopy as we age & we don't like to see the changes.
The smarter we are, the more likely we will try to keep out bodies from “rusting out.”
The dumber we are, the more likely we'll do nothing to prevent stuff that can kill us, like obesity, type 2 diabetes, pain pills, alcoholism, tobacco, junk food & sugar diet, toxic sodas, little water, less than 8-hours sleep daily etc.
Most general practitioner doctors are just drug dispensers. They are trained to manage your health problems with pills, & seldom ever try to find the root cause of any of your problems. Doctors manage their practices so that you will become a permanent dumbed-down patient who comes back to scheduled appointments for a renewal prescription.
If you want to have good health as you age, you will have to do it yourself, with knowledge from books, Internet websites like webmd.com & artyoumansstories.com & other secondary sources.
You'll also have to plan ahead.
EXAMPLE: In 2016, when I was a youngster of 84, I heard of a Telomeres blood test for $185 that could predict how long you'll likely live. I took the test & found out that the telomeres on my chromosomes would vanish when I'm 89, leaving me with a weak immune system.
A weak immune system allows a common cold to swiftly develop into deadly pneumonia. Not wishing to die until I live longer than my Dad, who died at 94, I began to plan ahead in 2016 to strengthen my immune system with a good diet & vitamins, minerals, amino acids & herbs that support the health of my body.
I eat no factory-prepared, grocery store meat & packaged food filled with antibiotics & growth hormones because it's also saturated with sugar & salt, both giving longer shelf life. Currently, I'm on a mostly Ketogenic (AKA Keto) diet with lots of avocados, extra-virgin organic coconut oil, non- antibiotic or growth hormone beef, chicken, pork, bacon once-a-week & lots of lightly-cooked vegetables.
Sweet potatoes saturated with butter I have five or more times a week. The 1stmonth on this high-fat diet, I lost ten pounds. The Keto diet is similar to Dr. Adkins diet, except the Keto diet allows much less carbohydrates. (See newsletter “Telomeres,” 30 July 2019, & newsletter “Ketogenic Diet,” 1 October 2019 for more information.)
The “Telomeres” newsletter can be found on website ArtYoumansStories.com under the subhead “Vitamins & Minerals,” in the Non-Fiction section. The “Ketogenic Diet” newsletter is posted on the website under the subhead “Food & Drink,” also in the Non-Fiction section.
On the Keto diet, the body is trained to burn (your body's) fat for energy, rather than burn carbohydrates. Eating lots of carbohydrates (e.g bread, noodles, junk foods etc) will make you obese.
When you start to get old at 50, get in the habit of never worrying about stuff you have no control over.
For example, there is incredible voter fraud in California & most sanctuary cities & states where street people are transported, by bus, all day to vote in different precincts more than 50 or 100 times in an election. This 5 to 8-million voter fraud totals used to bother me, but it took many years to stop worrying about it because there is nothing I can do to stop this voter fraud.
When I read the Internet article from godfatherpolitics.com on 12 July 2019, below, it didn't worry me, like it would have twenty years ago, as I have no control over voter fraud in nearly half-the-states (21), which will eventually result in one-party rule in the USA.
“L.A. County Has 1.6 Million More Voters Registered Than It Has Eligible Voters Living There.”
When I read about a crooked democrat Florida woman, in charge of counting votes in the 2018 governor & congressional election, who was caught with over 60,000 fraudulent absentee ballots in her car, it didn't upset me since there was nothing I could do about it.
You can lower stress in your life in two major ways:
1. Keep away from difficult people who want to share their problems with you. Tell them to share their problems with their bartender, not you.
2. If you can't do anything about a problem, don't worry about it. However, everyone faces the one problem that you can do something about: Death, the end of life.
If you feel your life has value, you might decide to prolong it as long as possible by eliminating anything that could shorten your life, like risky behavior (e.g. e-cigarettes, excess booze, lousy diet etc). This is exactly what I'm trying to do.
If you believe you can make a contribution to humanity by occupying space on this planet, then consider what other risky habits you can eliminate & what beneficial habits you can adopt.
The choice is yours.
If I live another 2-1/4 years to at least 90, I'll know that my diet & supplements probably got me there.
Miscellaneous Story 21
Art Youmans, “Female Heroes You've Never Heard About Before,” 5 November 2019
In the early 1800s, women were not allowed to attend Medical School to become doctors.
The reason that they were not allowed to attend was very simple: “Women's brains were smaller than men's. Therefore, women must be incapable of the complex thinking needed to become a medical doctor.”
When an English woman, (whose family moved from England to the USA when she was 11) Elizabeth Blackwell, showed up for her 1st class at Geneva Medical College, in the mid 1840s, the medical staff was astounded. She had applied & was accepted as a student for the medical college as “E. Blackwell.”
The medical staff evaluating her application for enrollment assumed she was male.
In a hastily-convened conference, no one knew what to do, until one sympathetic doctor said something like this, “We already admitted her. However, her small brain will make it impossible for her to keep up. Let her flunk out & we'll have solved our problem.”
In a vote by the student body, the 150 male students voted to let her enroll.
Four years later, in 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell M.D. graduated 5th highest in her class from Geneva Medical College. She became the 1st female doctor in the U.S.A. However, getting a job in an American hospital was as difficult for her as it would have been if bank robber Willie Sutton, when released from prison, applied for a job in a bank. So she moved to Europe for more than 10 years to get further medical experience.
Elizabeth persevered, returned to the USA & finally established a New York City clinic that treated women. Remember that women were treated as 2nd-class citizens until 1920, when they got the right to vote with the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
In WWII occupied France, from 1940-45, the bravest person was a woman.
Marie-Madeline Meric Fourcade, head of French Wartime Resistance, who commanded 3,000 French resistance fighters & provided information that made the D-Day invasion possible, was captured twice by the Gestapo, escaped twice by stripping naked, greasing herself & squeezing thru the prison bars. (She was skinny enough to do it) & survived the war. After the war she received every medal for heroism given to civilians by both France & Britain.
Marie, secretary to the French Wartime Resistance leader, seized opportunity & assumed control of all French Wartime Resistance when the leader was captured by the Nazis in 1940. After the war, she became as famous in France as Charles DeGaulle.
By October, 1941, the Soviet Air Force was so devastated by the Luftwaffe that Russian dictator Stalin gave the green light to recruit female pilots, but, fearing that, being female, they would panic in combat & bail out too soon, he refused to issue them parachutes (until near the end of the war).
Lydia Litryak, the Soviet's top female ace, was the 1st female in the world to shoot down an enemy aircraft. Before she died, crash landing a damaged airplane, in 1943, during the massive tank battle of Kursk, Lydia shot down 11 to 21 Nazi aircraft, according to conflicting reports. She was a double ace.
At the Battle of Kursk, about one-third of the approximately 3,000 Russian tanks were manned by women. This battle was a great victory for the Soviets, who were aided by the Allied invasion of Italy, which caused Hitler to divert troops & equipment from the Eastern front to Italy.
Lyudmila Pavlichenko, a Russian female sniper on the Eastern Front (Stalingrad) had more than 300 confirmed Nazi kills in WWII.
Lt. Annie Fox, Head Nurse at Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941, was the 1st woman to receive the Purple Heart. As she was not wounded, Annie's Purple Heart was exchanged for a Bronze Star medal in 1944, when requirements for the Purple Heart were amended to include only those “wounded in combat.”
In general, women (xx chromosomes) have proven they can do about 95% of everything as well as men (xy chromosomes) can. Except for lacking strength, power & foot-speed, women & men are equal in potential, a fact discovered since Elizabeth Blackwell became an M.D. in 1849, about 170 years ago.
If it wasn't for women's ability to give birth, your presence on this earth would have been impossible.
Give a salute to the lady in your life...whether she be your wife or mother. Her female ancestors had a rough road to climb from the past to the present. Harrah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miscellaneous Story 22
Art Youmans, “Art's Annual Handgun Report to Family & Friends,” December 24 2019
People have become more angry & violent, during the 21st century than they were in the mid-20th century.
The happy, well-adjusted Ozzie & Harriet family of the 1950s has been replaced by the dysfunctional family of 2020, eating a junk food-filled, sugar diet & popping Big Pharma pills, like Chantix & Prozac, with nasty side effects, that cause you to take violent action, like suicide, mass killings in schools, malls churches etc.
Tens of thousands of drug addicts & mentally-retarded folks live on the streets & under bridges in many U.S. cities, including Los Angeles & San Francisco. Practically every city has this problem, now. This was not a problem in 1950.
In 1969, a “New York Times” magazine section article stated that 4.5% of all Americans were mentally-retarded. My guess is that this 4.5% is accurate, today. That means that, if you're in a crowd of 200 people in the park, 9 of them could be mentally-retarded & dangerous. Watch your wallet!
Women & old men, like me, are easy targets for predators. Mexican cartels have turned thousands of normal Americans into dangerous predators.
In my opinion, any woman who doesn't carry a weapon to defend herself, in 2020, is taking a risk that could end her life. When she goes out for a morning run or off by herself gardening etc., she could carry a light-weight gun (8-12 ounces or so) in a $20 fanny pack around her waist. This is what I do whenever I leave my home.
I feel vulnerable without my 8-ounce, 5-shot 22-magnum derringer. I keep a loaded 38-caliber revolver in my car &, at home, I have a couple of loaded 38-caliber revolvers hidden for protection against someone kicking in my back or side doors.
From the noise of being close to a 155-howitzer 20-foot-long howitzer for 2 years in the Army, I'm deaf in my right ear & 30% to 40% deaf in my left ear. It was difficult to sleep, thinking I couldn't hear anyone breaking into my house from the back porch. So, for protection, I had a burglar alarm system (SimpliSafe) installed in my home, a few months ago. I should have done it sooner.
These are dangerous times. It pays to be a bit paranoid. It could save your life.
Every year, I send out my opinion of the laws covering your use of a firearm defending your home & your use of a firearm defending your life outside your home. Each state may be slightly different, but never forget the importance of establishing a paper trail, as the good guy, by calling 911 before your assailant, the bad guy, does, to establish himself as the good guy.
If you foolishly believe that a Crime of Opportunity will never enter your life, you are extremely naive.
Look at what happened to the Dr. William Petit family in 2007 in crime-free Cheshire, Connecticut, located about 20 miles north of New Haven, where I was born.
Dr. Petit's wife & a daughter were trailed home from the grocery store by crook #1, an intelligent sociopath, adopted as a youngster from Russia & an experienced break-in thief. Crook #1 contacted Crook #2 to help him plan a home invasion of Dr. Petit's house.
When the crooks arrived at Dr. Petit's house with their guns, they found Dr. Petit asleep on his unlocked porch. There was a baseball bat lying in the yard.
Crook #1 took the bat & whacked Dr. Petit over the head, tied him up & tossed him in the basement.
LESSON 1 Never leave an offensive weapon like a baseball bat lying around in your yard.
Both crooks raped & killed Mrs Petit & her 2 daughters with fire & smoke, after getting Mrs. Petit to withdraw $15,000 from the bank.
They used gasoline in trying to burn the house down. Only Dr. Petit survived the smoke & fire.
LESSON 2. Keep your doors locked. That means every lock including your backyard, auto etc.
Both crooks were arrested by the police, who had been alerted by the bank over the $15,000 withdrawal & message Mrs. Petit had slipped to the teller.
Both crooks' death sentences were commuted to life in prison by a politically-correct Connecticut court. A 2013 documentary movie about the Petits, “The Cheshire Murders,” is still shown on TV. Dr. Petit never returned to practice medicine, again. He is currently an elected state legislator in Connecticut & an advocate for helping victims of crimes.
LESSON 3. You could be a Crime of Opportunity. Do all you can to protect yourself.
If female, considering having a lightweight gun in a partially-unzipped fanny pack around your waist. Remember that we live in a dangerous world. Take precautions, now, so you won't be a victim, sometime later.
Keep your gun, by itself, in a fanny pack where you can get it fast. Don't keep it in a junk-filled purse where you can't get a fast-draw. Keep the cell phone in your purse, not the gun.
Below, is an updated repeat of one of the annual gun-oriented e-mails you’ve received from me since February 2016. Read it. It could save you time in jail.
“Castle Doctrine Laws (self-defense in your home) are essential to know, whether or not you possess a gun or any other self-defense weapon, like a knife, cane or even a baseball bat.
“If you even wave a weapon at a perp to frighten him away, remember what happened to a little guy who was in a road rage incident with a NFL-football-sized guy in 2015. Remember the importance of establishing a paper trail, first, whether on the road or at home.
“Mr. X, 50-years old, is driving to work during morning rush hour in his compact car.
“Mr Y pulls his large pickup directly behind Mr. X’s car & starts screaming at him. Then he pulls up in traffic next to Mr.X’s driver’s side window & screams at him forcing him off the road. Mr.Y parks, gets out of his car screaming obscenities, claiming Mr. X cut him off etc.
“Mr Y pounds his fists into the hood of Mr X’s car, kicks the car & tries to yank Mr. X out of his compact car. Fearing for his life, 5’ 2” Mr. X rolls up his windows, locks the car & reaches into the glove compartment for his gun, which he waves at Mr. Y.
“Mr. Y holds up his hands, palms forward indicating he’s leaving, backs up his pickup from behind the compact car & drives off.
“Mr. X breathes a sigh of relief & continues on his way to work.
“Unknown to Mr X is that Mr Y has established a paper trail by immediately calling 911 & reported “a maniac driving a compact car waving a loaded gun at passer-bys.” Mr Y also supplied the license tag number & color of Mr X’s car & the direction he was driving.
“Five minutes later a police patrol car’s lights are flashing behind Mr X’s compact car. Mr X is pulled over, hands handcuffed behind him & is taken to jail.
“Mr Y, a 6’5” giant shows up at Mr. X’s booking & hearing & testifies that Mr X is a menace to society & should not be allowed to frighten innocent people like him etc.”
SOURCE: E-mail from the organization whose attorneys were representing Mr X in court to keep him out of prison, & preserve his driver’s license & job, plus fight the personal injury lawsuit that Mr Y planned to file after Mr. X was sentenced to prison.
If Mr X immediately had called 911 & established a paper trail, he likely wouldn’t have been jailed as a perp (the bad guy). Keep your cell phone always charged & handy
If you use any weapon to protect yourself or to discourage an attacker, always immediately call 911 & establish a paper trail before the perp does to you what Mr Y did to Mr X.
This may be a case of “He said, she said,” but remember that the FIRST one to start a paper trail, in cases like this, is usually regarded as the innocent one by those not at the scene of the crime..
Never forget to call 911 to protect yourself in any situation, whenever a weapon is involved, even if you hit a home invader over the head with a potted plant or toss hot coffee in his face.
TIP of the Day #1
“Castle Doctrine Laws” govern firearm use & other self-defense techniques you use inside your home & apply in most of the United States.
Your home is your castle & you are allowed to defend it. However, if you shoot someone who has broken into your home you will have to prove to the police & maybe to a jury that you believed that the attacker was “capable of immediately killing you or causing you great bodily harm.” Call 911 ASAP after the break-in to establish a paper trail.
It’s easier to prove that to the police if you shoot the perp in the front, not in the back.
If he has a knife & you have a gun, if possible, keep him at least 30 feet away from you at all times. The more distance between you, the less likely that you’ll be “sucker punched” or killed by the perp.
Checklist for after you shoot the attacker in your home:
He is establishing a paper trail with you as the bad guy. Next, you could find yourself in court being sued as the bad guy. If his lawyer is better than your lawyer, it could cost you a bundle of money & forfeiture of your concealed weapon lice
nse (if you have one), because you didn’t make that important phone call to the cops.
To find out about handgun laws in your state, check out this website, below:
Always remember that the “Castle Doctrine Laws” apply to gun defense ONLY inside your home.
Outside the home, a complicated set of “Stand Your Ground” laws apply. These outside the home laws are so complex that I recommend you never shoot anyone outside your home.
Inside the home, it’s much easier for a DA, the police & a jury to determine who the good guy is & who the bad guy is.
Outside the home it’s his word against yours, unless you have honest witnesses.
So, outside the home use a firearm only in a life-threatening situation, unless you wish to spend months with lawyers, fleeing reporters or in court, like George Zimmerman did in Florida, on 26 February 2012, when he shot & killed Trayvon Martin, who was banging Zimmerman’s head on a concrete sidewalk.
In 2013, Zimmerman was found “Not Guilty” by a jury under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law,” despite the efforts of the Obama regime, the government-controlled media & a headline-seeking DA, to unjustly convict Zimmerman of murder.
TIP of the Day #1-1/2
In 1938 Germany, Hitler’s NAZIS passed laws prohibiting Jews from owning handguns. After their guns were confiscated, Germany became a police state. Jews were herded into ghettos & from there to concentration/extermination camps. After giving up their guns, things went badly for 6 million European Jews & a few million anti-Nazi rebels. To guarantee that history won’t repeat itself, be sure to vote for politicians who support the 2nd Amendment, The Right to Bear Arms.
(“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” George Santayana, philosopher, “The Life of Reason,” Volume 1, 1905, line 41)
Miscellaneous Story #23
A rt Youmans, “Question & Answer Time,” 5 April, 2020
Q. What is a pandemic?
A. A pandemic is an epidemic of a disease that has spread across a large region. COVID-19 is but one of many flu pandemics to infect folks on this planet. According to The World Health Organization (WHO), every year, 151,700 to 575,400 people will die of the flu, whether or not there is a flu pandemic.
Q. How long do viral pandemics like Wuhan COVID-19 last?
A. Medicine is still in the dark ages when it comes to viral pandemics, like COVID-19. These viral pandemics usually burn themselves out within 2 years. like a giant forest fire that has run out of fuel. Big Pharma loves pandemics since they bill the government for millions of dollars with the promise of a cure, but they always strike out.
Q. Why should I believe you? Give me an example.
A. Here are a few examples: 1. The Influenza pandemic (AKA Spanish Flu) of 1918-20 burned itself out in about 20 months, & The Flu pandemic of 2009-10 lasted about 17 months, but was confined to the USA, Mexico, Central & South America. The Hong Kong Flu pandemic from 1968-69 burned itself out within 2 years. COVID-19 is only about 4 months old. Expect it to be in the news for another year to year-and-a-half. It'll be around until it burns itself out, like previous viral pandemics.
In the event you missed this information in previous newsletters, there are more than 20,000 other incurable diseases floating around, mostly in 3rdworld countries, just as incurable as COVID-19 coronavirus. This is one reason that I believe that the media panic for COVID-19 being the end of the world is pure BS. I refuse to let the crackpot media or devious politicians seeking more power, panic me into running around like a chicken without a head, wearing a silly surgical mask, like most of my acquaintances in Oklahoma.
Q. Has the medical profession ever cured a viral infection?
A. Only one that I know about. Edward Jenner used cowpox to cure & prevent the smallpox virus in the 19th century. When you have a cold, a doctor may inject you with an anti-bacterial drug to make you feel he's trying to help.. This injection or pill kills bacteria in your gut, but is worthless against viruses.
Q. What is a virus?
. A. A virus is a parasite that is 1,500 times smaller than a bacterium (a single bacteria). It is so small that no one has ever seen a virus. The electron microscope is the world's most powerful germ microscope &, thru it, scientists can see (using powerful mirrors) shadows of viruses.
When you can't easily examine a potentially-killer virus, it's not hard to imagine the problems that medical researchers encounter in trying to cure any virus, like COVID-19.
Q. Can viruses or bacteria cause the same disease?
A. Yes. Either can cause pneumonia, meningitis or diarrhea.
Q. Besides size, what are the main differences between viruses & bacteria?
A. To sicken or kill you a virus must reproduce. Viruses reproduce onlyinside cells in your body. For example, viruses enter your body, & invade your cells. They then continue to reproduce (if your immune system isn't strong enough to destroy them) & eventually cancer kills you.
Bacteria are single celled pathogens that can reproduce faster than rabbits, anywhere, in a wound, billions in your mouth & can survive even in radioactive waste & frozen in blocks of ice. Bacteria have been on earth for about 3.5 billion years. Some bacteria are classified as parasites, but other bacteria are not parasites. The Bubonic Plague, which died out after the great London fire of 1666, was caused by bacteria. (SOURCE: WebMD, “Bacterial and Viral Infections”) Some bacteria are good for you, especially in your gut, where 80% of your immune system lives, & a few bacteria can kill you.
Many of the deaths attributed to be caused by COVID-19 will likely have been caused by bacteria, in my opinion. Q. Are governments around the world likely to eradicate any viral infections, like COVID-19?
A. Yes, eventually, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a cure. Even smallpox, caused by the variola virus, took years to cure with a cowpox injection. (Where are Edward Jenner & Louis Pasteur when we need them?) To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time that a virus has been stopped in its tracks.
In my opinion, using the band-aid approach to protect yourself from a pandemic for which there is no cure is a foolish idea. Washing your hands 100 times a day, staying trapped at home, wearing a face mask etc. are things that I don't bother with since they're defensive techniques. What's important is, what I've said over & over for years, an effective offensive technique is described, below:
(Keep Your Immune System Strong)
Eat lots of unprocessed food, free of pesticides & antibiotics. Eats much of this food raw or lightly cooked. Drink half your weight in ounces of water, daily. No junk food, ever! Sleep about 8 hours every night so you body can repair itself & much more. Vitaminize & mineralize your body, generously. Liposomal vitamin C 1,000 mg is my favorite immune system protector at mercola.com
Without a strong immune system, you're playing Russian roulette with your life.
Eliminate stress, which causes inflammation, which causes a weak immune system (using up its energy to fight inflammation), which causes disease, which causes DEATH.
There's lots more, but this will get you started.
A strong immune system fights any life-threatening virus or bacteria or anything else. It's your personal bodyguard 24/7.
NOTE: Some already-bankrupt countries, including the USA, have begun trillion dollar stimulus plans to save the country's economy from collapse, because of business shutdowns & downsizing from the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Only Muslim countries & Norway have ZERO debt. I don't know of any other country that is not dead broke or already bankrupted. These are dangerous times.
I expect a worldwide financial crisis to visit us within the next 12 months, so keep your bank balances low, in the event your bank goes belly-up. They did it once before (1932) & it looks like we might have a repeat performance, soon, along with a new world currency.
I also expect politicians to try to gain more control of the voters around the world. This year, a path to Orwell's “1984” society has been established, worldwide.
Because of the media-induced virus panic, the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, has already been been given unlimited dictatorial powers, indefinitely (by Hungary's government) to deal with COVID-19 coronavirus under Martial Law. This allows Orban to bypass Parliament & rule this EU country by decree. People could be jailed for up to 3 years for resisting Hungary's Martial Law decrees (e.g. leaving quarantine without permission) & up to 5 years for publishing “false” information about the virus. Of course, the government decides what counts as “false” information. Read Orwell's novel, “1984,” to see where the world is headed.
Hungary, today, is an example of what could happen to free speech, tomorrow, in the USA, if handguns are ever confiscated & our 2ndAmendment to the Constitution revoked.
Politicians use every crisis to seize more power & make us more dependent on them.. I realize that world politicians don't have a clue about stopping an invisible enemy like the COVID-19 coronavirus. It frightens me to think that my future health is controlled by a bunch of incompetent politicians, scrawny mental midgets with big voices, hiding behind a curtain, like The Wizard of Oz.
Where is Dorothy's dog Toto, when we need him?
Politics & bank robbing are two professions where you can get rich fast! With one, you control people with restrictive laws & take bribes (donations) from lobbyists.. With the other, you control folks at the point of a gun. There is little difference between these two professions, in my opinion.
